I have a leaky Water Heater. I have purchased a new one and just need them switched out. Im getting $500 range from Heating and Plummbing places. I currently have a guy willing to do it for $350. Can anyone hook me up for less than that?

Since it's a gas water heater I'd pay the 500 or the 350 if they know what they're doing.

Did you get if from Home Depot or Lowes? I worked at Depot and we had guys we contracted out to do the work for customers. If you didn't, I would imagine that the subs would still want the work. Additionally, I know you might want to offer one of the guys up there in the plumbing department a few hundred dollars cash to come buy and help you do it when they get off work.

Did it myself. Just followed the instructions on this site:http://www.thehomeshow.com/howtos/water_heater/wheater.html

i hope you didn't use a gate valve per those instructions. not a bad heater though, it's a rheem (rebadged by G.E.). there's a couple of other minor issues i see with the install, but i guess you didn't care for any advice.[Edited on October 23, 2006 at 7:09 PM. Reason : .]
