Summary: Moderates FTW.

Moderates need to stop jumping ship to the other parties. If you're fed up with your party, jumping ship to the other major party doesn't help you at all and sure as fuck doesn't change the situation where people just vote for one of the two major parties. If you want to enact change, you have to be different.

Republicans fucking up makes me want to not vote republican. It does not, however, make me want to vote democrat

A legitimate third party would certainly be desirable--meaning one that can actually win major elections on a consistent basis.

^ Any party can win elections on a regular basis if people vote for them. The fact that the republicans and democrats remain in power is a testament to that fact.

I wish someone would bring back the Bull Moose values and couple that with fiscal pragmatism. I could see John McCain heading up such a party. His popularity alone would carry it. I'd be uneasy about their hawkishness, however. I disagree mightily w/ McCain on Iraq.[Edited on October 19, 2006 at 10:34 PM. Reason : .]

^^ You have a firm grasp on the obvious.

^ Aparently it's not so obvious because all I hear from people is "I would vote for a third party if they could win."
10/20/2006 8:19:25 AM
^ It's a vicious circle, to be sure.
