I triple-majored and finished my botany and zoology degrees, and to finish my BLS degree all I need to take is BCH 451. Now that I have a real day job, I can't feasibly take this class since it is always offered during the day, but I really would like my last diploma. Has anyone transferred credit from this class from another college or university nearby? EVEN BETTER, has anyone taken a distance education version of this class from another place and received transfer credit to NCSU? I already know of admission's transfer equivalency page, but I'm looking for any additional support you may be able to offer. Thanks!

At most schools, BCH 451 is actually a two semester series. That might actually be better for you since you are working. Go talk to Dr. Knopp about it. He may be able to better answer this question for you....

Click on the fourth link here: http://www.fis.ncsu.edu/uga/course.htm. There are about 20 colleges or so which offer transfer credit for this course. This list isn't 100% up to date and if you DO spot something you think could/should transfer, you'll need to talk with several people to get it added to the approved list.

The triple major won't mean anything for graduate school admissions if you don't take this one course seriously. Truthfully, this isn't one of those "distance-education" type of courses. You are going to have to dig to find some options that will work for you ... should have been one of those courses you did take while in school ... and left an elective of some sort open.

I personally would recommend working with your employer to take it SS2 to cause the least possible disruption ... possibly a change in work hours or taking vacation time as necessary.

If you talk to your advisor and/or favorite professor, you might be able to set up an independent study that would fufill the requirement and meet your schedule.

^yeah I have a feeling that wouldn't be a solution to substitute BCH 451

^^I wanted to take it while I was still in school, but working til one in the morning and taking an intense 9 am class just wasn't feasible

BCH451 is a fairly hardcore class that I couldn't possibly imagine taking as a distance class. There is a reason there's a lecture, problem session, and two seperate books required on top of the textbook just for this one class. Like others have said, you would realistically be best served by working out something with your employer for a summer session.

having graduated with a BLS degree from state, it is pretty worthless. i find myself wishing really badly that i had transferred into the zo program or the fisheries and wildlife program (which i'm a grad student in now). the bls program has you learn a little of everything but a lot of NOTHING. they really need to focus it more. basically i'm saying be happy with the botany and zo diplomas and just forget the bls degree, you won't miss it and it really isn't gonna help you much in the job hunt (at least not a bs) BCH 451 was a hard course, it really isn't worth it if you already have a job.
