$5 says Coach K wins COY because he did his best coaching job ever, "Coaching less talent"kind of like roy last year and K the year beforethey will win without him
10/16/2006 11:01:38 AM
10/16/2006 11:16:01 AM
He wasn't that good last season anyway. It'd be better if McRoberts broke his foot.
10/16/2006 11:17:41 AM
the beat goes on without him and he will be back when it counts...
10/16/2006 11:18:19 AM
duke's turnover ratio just improved dramatically

I sure hate it for them
10/16/2006 11:28:48 AM
who plays point for duke now? the freshman henderson maybe? the pocius kid?sucks though in an already 'down' year for them, but i'm sure they'll be fine, because they're just about always fine
10/16/2006 11:33:36 AM
10/16/2006 11:35:47 AM
you were trying to start a debate centered on facts and logici was just being a dickthat about sums it up, no?
10/16/2006 11:38:06 AM
fair enough
10/16/2006 11:40:51 AM
Carolina is going to seriously dominate the ACC, sorry boys.
10/16/2006 11:41:56 AM
"How could this happen to me?"
10/16/2006 11:45:59 AM
Paulus is average at best, and a huge liability on defense even when 110% healthy. But McRoberts should have a much easier time with opposing defenses now that JJ and SheWill are gone
10/16/2006 11:48:31 AM
Carolina aint gonna dominate the acc. Paulus will be back for acc play and duke is fine at guard anyway. K coached teams are unselfish enough to do just fine without a true point. Also, as someone noted this makes Duke's d great by not having a liability on the court. (also paulus' reason for not being able to shoot 3s last year was transistion from football. said he would be better this year but not having him assures good shooters all around the perimeter)
10/16/2006 2:21:45 PM
It is funny how UNC always gets the preseason hype(rightly or wrongly). Many analysts are picking them preseason #1 when Florida is returning pretty much its entire championship team....
10/16/2006 2:47:45 PM
^lol yeah.....
10/16/2006 3:15:18 PM
notre dame of absketball....
10/16/2006 3:16:05 PM
the only problem i see is they have mcroberts listed as the first ball handler. I know he has handles but dont you want your big man under the basket.[Edited on October 16, 2006 at 3:25 PM. Reason : ed]
10/16/2006 3:24:49 PM
Personally I think Duke is in for a long season. 9-7 in the ACC.They dont have enough scoring.
10/16/2006 3:35:26 PM
Their offense could be more consistent, since it won't be built around freeing JJ Redick's for 3 point shots.
10/16/2006 3:42:46 PM
They'll find some way to be fine, go 14-2 and win conference. Heck, Krzyzewski turned a team that was starting Lee Melchionni into an ACC champion.
10/16/2006 4:01:02 PM
You are out of your mind if you don't think UNC is going to roll through the ACC this year.
10/16/2006 5:01:23 PM
Ya never know.Remember when that team with McCants, Felton, May, Noel, etc. was young and didn't have chemistry. They didn't exactly roll over the ACC.Highly touted recruits, especially large classes, don't always translate into success, especially the first year.
10/16/2006 5:25:26 PM
dook is in big trouble. their backup PG is jon scheyer who's a shooting guard and has never played a minute of college ball, and after that its pocious. i'm sure they won't be awful, but they'll definitely struggle if teams are smart enough to apply pressure defense
10/16/2006 6:22:05 PM
10/16/2006 6:24:46 PM
Things will be fine. Demarcus Nelson played pg in HS. He is 9th all time in California assists.
10/16/2006 6:32:59 PM
I don't think it's his assists that are important, it'll be turnovers when teams press them. Lucky for Duke they don't play a road game until freaking January.I really think they'll be alright though as long as he's not out for the majority of the ACC season.
10/16/2006 7:45:10 PM
You don't break a press with one guy anyway. Almost the whole roster knows how to handle and pass. The main worry will be not having someone to create on offense.
10/16/2006 7:53:03 PM
dude is a thug anyway

10/17/2006 7:30:15 PM
Paulus's injury is one he's had since high school. He'll be back soon enough...no worries!
10/17/2006 7:41:00 PM
A lot of the usual suspects are going to have down years this year. Syracuse, Duke, Wake, UConn, Maryland (can we still consider the a national power?), etc...
10/17/2006 7:44:59 PM
^Same thing seems to be said every other year and we never drop out of the top 10. Also, please don't put Duke with maryland wake and syracuse. You are being ridiculous and you know it. Duke might even surprise some people this year.
10/17/2006 8:15:41 PM
i'd be surprised if Duke won any games all season long. they lost everybody now that Paulus is out for the entire season. plus coach K is going into depression over the World Championships
10/17/2006 8:17:25 PM
Duke is preseason #7 from ESPN.1 Senior - Joe Pagliuca1 Junior - Demarcus Nelson6 Sophs - Josh McRoberts, Greg Paulus, David McClure, Martynas Pocius, Jamal Boykin, Jordan Davidson6 Freshmen - Jon Scheyer (Redick-like shooter, but much better ball handler), Gerald Henderson (been called the most athletic ACC player since Vince Carter), Lance Thomas, Brian Zoubek, Nick Sutton, Steve JohnsonDuke has some great players, but hardly ANY experience. This team reminds me a lot of the 2001 Duke team with Brand, Avery, and Battier as the most talented experienced players even though they were Sophs. Realistically, teams like this will be the norm because the great players will be gone after one year in today's society. Duke has a lot of question marks, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the Final Four with their talent. They will lose more games than a normal Duke team, but will be top 3 in the ACC.Paulus was playing with a chipped bone in his wrist and was the top QB in the country his Senior year...he's tough and I'd be willing to bet that he won't miss a regular season game this year (due to this injury).I'm curious to see the starting lineup...I predict McRoberts (6-10), Nelson (6-4), Henderson (6-5), Paulus (6-1), and Scheyer (6-4) with Nelson matching up against the PF like he did some last year (he's strong). Lance Thomas is 6-8, but I'm not sure if he'll start as a Freshman.Scheyer:

Yes. You are still a retard.
11/13/2006 2:11:27 PM
Paulus = Atsurand ironically enough they both have foot injuriesmaybe they are the same person in disguise
11/13/2006 2:41:56 PM
^WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUTatsur is a shooter/scorer while paulus is a true pg/slasheratsur is a defender while paulus is a pure shittalker
