so i was wondering if anyone knew how much televisions were marked up for retail? i have a friend whos uncle owns an electronic distributing company somewhere in the southeastern states and told me she could get me a tv for wholesale price. she talked to her uncle and he told her to tell me to let him know what size i wanted, features, price i was looking to spend, etc. i'm looking at 42in+ DLP or LCD televisions, preferably rear projection, sony, samsung, toshiba, etc. But i was wondering if anyone knew the markup on these tv's or could give me any info? thanks a lot

Best buy employee discount was huge on TV's.

around 15-30%, with the highest markup being on the newest products.

Damn I wanted to work at Best Buy for that discount.......but I knew something about electronics

depends. Can range from 5% to 50+%. Also he's at the second tier, bestbuy and other electronics companies are often at the third tier so expect to get even further. Make a list of what you want and ask him. I suggest a sony wega is a DLP.

I'll give you an example.Sony 42" ED Flat Panel Plasma-BlackFWD42PV1/BRetail: $2399Cost to Purchase for Retail Store: 1705.96That's just ONE example though. It'll vary from TV to TV.(That's a 40.6% increase in price from the purchase cost for the retail store.)

And there we go.

^^It is kind of annoying to hear SXRDs referenced as using DLP technology when they in fact dont.I dont know why, but it gets kind of old.

whups my bad. The Sony Wega's just look really nice. Was a slip up. I've been looking mostly at LCD tv's myself. I really like the LG's I've been seeing but I might go with a DLP since I use it only for movies and games and I'd like a bigger screen. Not sure yet though.

I'm just trying to say, most outdated tech is clearance... low margin.According to panasonics website, the th42px60u MSRP is 2099http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/vModelDetail?storeId=15001&catalogId=13401&itemId=96291&catGroupId=24973&modelNo=TH-42PX60U&surfModel=TH-42PX60U&cacheProgram=11002&cachePartner=7000000000000005702regardless.... i don't trust NY stores. Yes you can find really good prices at random retailers, but overall... retail markup from my experience with TVs are around 30%. You can disagree with me, but I work with this, and i'm just telling you my personal experience.

Huh. I have to scroll horizontally to read everything. I guess I don't have 100,000x800 resolution.
