I know their was already a thread but it was too old to post.. so I was thinking about taking this class next semester for my minor. For those of you that took it, what did you think about the class and teacher

one of my favorite courses i've taken at state. i came in not liking history, and i developed much more of an appreciation for it. kimler really does a good job keeping things interesting.

youll like this course. kimler is fairly cool. no reason not to get an A, just write down what he says and say it on the tests.

I'm taking the course right now. Dr. Kimler is an awesome professor, I wish more of my professors were like him.

Outstanding professor - one of the best lecturers on campus. As for your concern about not being a big history guy: the first day of class, Dr. Kimler asked for all the history majors to raise their hand. No one did. He asked "any history minors?" and one person raised his hand. Dr. Kimler knows his audience, he doesn't teach the course in a historiographical manner like you may find in other HI courses. Besides, his background is in science. Instead of a history degree, he has a Ph.D in evolutionary biology from Cornell.

It's a great class, highly recommended.

Dr. Kimler is one of the best profs I've had so far. Very smart and very personable; I went to his office hours a lot and could talk about anything and he would know about it. The only problems I had with the course were that there's a ton of information he has to get through, and he talks too way fast sometimes. He has a great website with lots o' info.

Hahah, one time I went to his office and there was a bumblebee trapped in the blinds. I asked him if he was hiding some research he was conducting from the history department.

im in his class now...he's really cool, goes off on some random tangents...but still is very interesting and funny in a quirky kind of way.
