10/11/2006 12:25:13 PM
methadone is serious shyte.[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 12:28 PM. Reason : xanax is a benzodiazepine, not sure about lexapro.]

Get drunk, crush the Xanax, and snort.Thats what kid from my hometown did in 94. I think he is currently still a vegetable.
10/11/2006 12:31:05 PM
lexapro is for depression
10/11/2006 12:32:42 PM
Im on lexapro for anxiety/stress and have been since March. I really like it, Im not nearly as high strung as I was. Also, I have not gained 20lbs on with like I did with the zoloft
10/11/2006 1:16:13 PM

Xanies are the shit....hopefully you got the blues or bars.No 1st hand experience w/ lexapro, but I have known several people to take lexapro, paxil, zoloft ect.....and after a few weeks of taking the drugs, they seemed like different people....in bad ways. One of my ex-gf's took lex for a few months, and her sex drive plummeted while on it, not to mention the personality change. also, one of my buddies took it for a while, and while he said it helped his depression issues, he also developed a very short temper, snapping @ the smallest things. The funny thing is, from talking to the people, they said the drugs greatly helped the depression, but people around them (including me) thought that it actually changed their personality.
10/11/2006 1:50:45 PM
^^yeah, totally.
10/11/2006 1:53:37 PM
aaah, yea maybe it was zoloft instead of xanaxoh well, i knew it was some kinda crazy combo
10/11/2006 2:45:09 PM
lexapro gave me horrible headaches, hope that doesn't happen to you
10/11/2006 3:03:56 PM
is there a difference between generics and the genuine. i pick up my prescription in 30 minutes and never asked. hopefully it isn't too pricey.later, people.
10/11/2006 3:34:13 PM
Lexapro is some powerful stuff. My wife was on it for a while. It helped her TREMENDOUSLY, but has the usual side effects like drowsiness and walletemptyingness. She got off of it after 6 months because it was making her super drowsy. She feel asleep in the bathroom (at work), in her car (not moving), at home, in her classes (in front of the teacher), and many other places.
10/11/2006 3:40:28 PM
got the generic xanax (ALPRAZOLAM 0.25MG TABLETS) 30 Pills.and LEXAPRO 10 MG TABLETS . . . . 30 pills.what's the difference with all of this ?
10/11/2006 4:53:34 PM
No difference.

^ my intention isn't to get fucked up. i'm trying to get better, G. i'm just hoping the doc gave me the correct combo, etc . . . i'm tired of feeling severe downs and minimal ups.the hardest thing is going to be not drinking. i think i've gained a somewhat dependency on alcohol. i realise this especially after the doc said refrain from it - then i started thinking how empty my life would be w/out the use of alcohol - its cause socially i always have a drink in my hand. and when i get home i drink a glass of wine at least.
10/11/2006 5:30:01 PM
So do you just have depression or do you have anxiety? Because I don't see why the Xanax would be prescribed for depression. It's really just supposed to be used to calm you down when you have panic attacks. So remember that... take the Xanax only as needed, not on a regular basis. You WILL become dependent on the benzos if you take them regularly.
10/11/2006 5:33:42 PM
Thinking about it, I suppose the Xanax is to help you cope with the startup effects of Lexapro.
10/11/2006 5:34:38 PM
10/11/2006 6:15:12 PM
if you have depression and also think you have a dependency on alcohol, you should try quitting alcohol before you try any meds. that alone can relieve symptoms for some people, as alcohol can exacerbate depressive mindstates.
10/11/2006 6:20:04 PM
don't expect to feel better right away. anti-depressants can take a while to work, and sometimes the first one (or six) doesn't work. if you do start to feel worse - tell your doctor. i actually felt worse when i was on lexapro. i know nothing about xanax though.and what ^ said is very true as well.[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 6:38 PM. my psychologists that i've been having talk therapy with for the past 6 weeks labeled me "anxious depression" so whatever that means . . . my shrink referred me to the M.D./psyhciartrist that gave me the meds.
10/11/2006 6:49:03 PM
10/11/2006 6:59:57 PM
i feel jipped almost. i got such a low dosage .25 , i just popped it a minutes ago. i feel no different. i'm tempted to get a 6 pack of brew . . .
10/11/2006 7:24:31 PM
how dare that doc not pump you full of drugs
10/11/2006 8:40:17 PM
Xanax + Alcohol = (no, I didn't take the combo, but somebody in the house did...)
10/11/2006 8:42:36 PM
10/11/2006 8:50:48 PM
Xanax supposedly just makes you feel less anxious. Like, say you're wiggin' out about something, it makes you more fonzy-like. This is why it's such a bad combination with alcohol. Alcohol fucks up your judgement to begin with, Xanax "turns off" whatever inhibitions you might have while drunk.
10/11/2006 8:52:52 PM
takes 60mins anyway.plus, people who abuse drugs, like alcohol, arent going to helped a lot by tiny doses. this isj6 you docs fault, you did this to yourself.[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 8:54 PM. Reason : 6]
10/11/2006 8:53:22 PM
^ well, i told him that my alcohol use is just socially, i didn't want to tell him its every evening and night. i didn't want to sound like I had a problem. and well i didn't want to tell him about the nicotine either, but I only smoke when I'm either doing blow or having a drink in a bar type atmosphere. i'm not a smoker though. and my level of drinking isn't like i do it during work hours or anything either.
10/11/2006 9:27:53 PM
your not gonna get anywhere near the correct treatment if you lie to your doctors. youre just basically making them your legal dealers, youre not 'trying to get help' unless you be honest. whatever, im not telling you to get help. be drug addict depressive/anxious person forever. fine be me and everyone else.
10/11/2006 9:48:53 PM
josh #'s. dude, i want help. they know i drink. etc . . . . its moreso i have the propensity if i lose discipline. i haven't drank in 2 days. and i haven't done blow in like over a week. i'm doing fine. i made a conscious effort to try meds in conjunction with my talk therapy. i'm keeping my weekly shrink sessions going and now i got the lexapro and xanax combo. i'm working, dude ...........
10/11/2006 10:00:51 PM
you wont begin to be helped by your docs till you tell them everything.they arent helping YOU, they are helping someone you just talk about that resembles you.[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 10:11 PM. Reason : 56]

I heard celexa was better than lexapro and it has a generic...xanax (alprazolam) is for anxiety mostly but can be used for other things.
10/12/2006 12:13:04 AM
lexapro gives me a headache and makes me feel like i'm in a drug induced happy state.. I didnt like it.Xanax pretty much knocks me the fuck out unless I take like 1/8 of a white bar which is basically equivelant to the smallest (.25mg) dose. When it does work, I pretty much just say anything I'm thinking to anyone who is around--which is a sharp contrast for me because I'm usually quiet as hell. Kinda cool, but I still just pass the hell out in an hour or two lol. Hmm, I think that's all I've been given, by a doctor of course.^any ideas on the dosages of each drug he had? Mainly I'm interested in the methadone, I'm sure it was a shit ton...[Edited on October 12, 2006 at 12:20 AM. Reason : asdf]

i have no idea sorry...i'm sure it was online somewhere????
10/12/2006 2:22:23 AM
It probably was a whole lot. I had a family member who was addicted to xanax and methadone for years and didn't die from using them.
10/12/2006 2:36:51 AM
So is everyone in this thread that's talking about meds in talk therapy too?I mean, goodness, therapists and doctors must be rollin in it. And pharmacies and drug companies. I didn't know it was this bad.

If this is your first set of scripts not to be a downer but chances are they won't work right. It's a major trial and error system. And tons of things factor in to wether or not they'll work. Age is a big one. And whether or not you happen to be in the small percentage of people who have serious side effects. Even if you aren't they're still other things that can go wrong. I've been on more drugs than I can remember. I finally just got so stressed from having to remember to take 10 pills a day I just stopped. Probably not the smartest thing but I was tired of being poked, prodded, and drugged without success. Just pray you're not in the crazy side effect group. I've been put in mental hospitals before simply to detox from a bad reaction to a new medicine. There's nothing they can do for you if it starts going wrong. You just have to wait it out. I've never been on xanax but I'm pretty sure I was on lexapro for awhile. I don't remember what happened but it didn't work. Just be cautious and tell your doc anything weird that happens. If it starts going bad you need to realize it sooner rather than later. Good Luck!
10/12/2006 4:37:02 AM
Be careful with the Xanax. It can get a hold on you.
10/12/2006 5:05:52 AM
less so then SSRI's
