Josh Adams (Freshman from Cary) that chose Wake over NCSU, Maryland and several others may burn his redshirt this weekend in Carter-Finley. He's my boy but I hope the student section gives him hell for picking Wake over NCSU if he does indeed burn his redshirt this weekend like Grobe is thinking. I talked to him last night and he said he didn't think he would play but isn't sure. He's #27 for Wake. Thanks studentsection.

It saddens me that such a huge game is during fall break. I hope the stadium gets filled up.

yeah that does suck. Fall Break + Noon kickoff + State Fair. Too many non-diehard fans will either sleep through kickoff or be out of town. I remember I spent my fall break last year in ATL watching the Pack play @ GT. Hopefully there will still be a good/loud crowd there. This game is huge. I haven't been this excited about a Wake game in years, or maybe ever.

He's a running back, of course he didn't choose us, I wouldn't either.

We have like 12 of them, he would get approximately 42 seconds of PT per game.

He was told he'd redshirt here and Wake told him that he would be the man at Wake since Barclay left. Obviously he hasn't been real happy redshirtting all year up to this point but now rather redshirt the rest of the season unless he gets a good number of carries each game. He comes here, redshirts, and possibly moves to DB/Slot WR (which many think he is destined to be anyways).

But student section - give him hell if he gets in the game.

I'm pretty sure he was told he'd be the man AFTER he redshirted. Wake already had a stud in Micah Andrews PLUS Grobe makes it a point to try and redshirt EVERY SINGLE FRESHMEN. Adams' redshirt will only get burned if/because he is their last possible option at running back.

He definitely chose Wake over NCSU because of the playing time...but I don't think he was expecting to get a lot of PT, if any, his freshmen year.

^ he is not their last possible option at RB. They have another true freshman that is redshirting and they still have the guys who've been playing (Bryant and Harris). Grobe is considering using Adams because Bryant and Harris are not playing up to Grobe's expectations. They only had 31 yards on 31 carries against Clemson.

I didn't watch the game the other day (listened on the radio) so I didn't realize they were starting a white RB.

I thought those times were behind us.

He is their last player to suit up at RB, at least the last one who can run a sub 4.55 40. Grobe mentioned the other guys don't have the speed to play.

jbrick. JA told me personally that wake coaches were excited about him coming in and making plays immediately since barclay was gone. i know wake redshirts all their players and i know they had micah andrews going into the season.

just give him hell if he see's the field.

Im not scared of this kid. Booker was bigger, faster, and stronger and where did he go against us?

NOWHERE

Be more afraid of that Skinner kid passing and catching balls.
Be even more afraid of their pussy-ass O-line chop blocking our standout D-linemen and injuring them.

Fuck Wake. Fuck Chop-blockers.

I don't think the school was counting on Wake Forest being a huge game when they made the schedule around fall break.

^game won't be over til 330...people won't get out of the parking lot til 4, and then to have to drive straight down to charlotte and get there around 7 for a race which i'm assuming starts around 8 and still have to get parked and everything.

not only that, but they didn't decide on a noon kickoff until a couple weeks ago, so many may have already made plans to go to the race. (not me, i hate nascar)

That is the reason he didn't come here b/c we were talking about playing him in the slot to take T. Hall's spot but now we have Eugene there and I'm not sure Josh would beat out Eugene.

Speaking of which...we need to get Eugene a few more touches a game...instead of 2 or 3 we need to make it 4 or 5...he is explosive in the open field

we dont need to make any changes right now. we are working on all cylinders. players touches and pt are not an issue we need to worry about right now as long as we are winning.

Shut up you idiot.

FSU has Jeff Bowden. Wake has crazy, misdirection, we'll fake out the camera guy/much less your LBs on every play, reverse running, flea-flicking offense that I would HATE to prepare for if I was an opposing coach. All you need is a 4.6 running back with a little bit of agility to succeed in this offense.

id have to admit im more afraid of WFU beating us than I was for the FSU game. NCSU vs FSU is just one of those games where I feel like we always have a good chance, and then for WFU and NCSU, I always feel like we have to play a perfect game in order to beat them. Essentially WFU is what we are to FSU.

We just need to hit them in their candy assed mouths and stomp on their throats.

On a real positive note:

Last year's WF loss was in large part due to 2 key turnovers that led to Wake TDs. One of those was an interception by you-know-who and it was returned to the endzone.

If we play smart, keep the penalties/turnovers down like the last couple of games then we should have a good chance.

Wake is a much tougher game than the last 2 for us...We always struggle against Wake and UNC. We seem to play up and down to the competition.

Their current runningbacks suck. That's why they are thinking about burning Josh's redshirt.

^^You rarely make any sense at all.

I say all you need is to be a decent running back to succeed in this offense.

You say..."I dunno, their running backs didn't do so well against Clemson."

I said, "yeah, well they aren't decent running backs."

You say..."well....no shit."

huh???

they must be halfway decent RB's or they wouldn't be in a position to start at a Division I football program. Forget injuries.

My point was that, you can't just plug any fast RB into their system and have them go crazy. That's just stupid.

Eh...I don't think so. I mean...if you know the offense, and you're quick/fast, then there's a pretty good chance you'll do good in that offense. Not stupid at all.

Yeah, really.

I think Barclay's a great example of this. ACC POY in the Wake offense...then not drafted and unable to crack a roster at the next level.

The offense makes the back.

if this red shirt he's planning on burning is an ncstate shirt then hell ya we need to bitch at him but i don't think we should care if its just a plain red shirt though.

[Edited on October 11, 2006 at 8:00 PM. Reason : we'll see]

edit just reread the orginal post and found that hes doing this IN the stadium and the wake coach knows about it already

arent thre rules on burning stuff in the stadium? i know fsu burns a stick but if the coach thinks he might try this in front of everybody he needs to control his own player

First off, we lost at wake last year because of two pick sixes combined with a 60 and 70 yard punt that completely killed field position. If we win the turnover battle, then we will win, because if the turnover battle is won, then our talent will win it. However, when is the last time we won the turnover battle against Wake?? They are pretty disciplined in all phases, and last week they had a meltdown, two in two weeks, doubtful. I'd be happy running the ball 80/20 and ofrcing Wake to beat us instead of beating ourselves.

by your reaction i'm guessing you were talking about some kind of figurative "burning of a red shirt". o well. it still throws me off.

wouldn't that be crazy if a player burned a shirt of the other team on the road before tha game? kind of likek how miami stomped on the bird.
