How long has it been since FSU was out of the top 25?
10/9/2006 8:48:21 AM
or miami. A long time.

USA Today Poll (for what it's worth...)Week 7 USA Today Poll1. Ohio State (62) 6-0 1,5742. USC 5-0 1,4613. Florida (1) 6-0 1,4124. West Virginia 5-0 1,3985. Michigan 6-0 1,3586. Texas 5-1 1,2407. Louisville 5-0 1,2078. Notre Dame 5-1 1,0449. Tennessee 5-1 1,03110. Auburn 5-1 95811. California 5-1 91112. Clemson 5-1 89913. Iowa 5-1 67214. Georgia 5-1 66115. Georgia Tech 5-1 59216. LSU 4-2 56517. Virginia Tech 4-1 52318. Oregon 4-1 51019. Boise State 6-0 47220. Nebraska 5-1 46021. Missouri 6-0 38722. Oklahoma 3-2 26823. Arkansas 4-1 26424. Rutgers 5-0 26125. Boston College 4-1 108OTHERS RECEIVING VOTESFlorida State 74, Wisconsin 58, Penn State 27, Pittsburgh 21, Washington 13, Texas A&M 11, Miami (FL) 8, Texas Tech 7, UCLA 6, Brigham Young 5, Wake Forest 3, North Carolina State 3, South Carolina 3.DROPPED FROM RANKINGSFlorida State 16, Texas Tech 24. BC got back into their Top 25, USC is oddly ranked higher than Florida, and Arkansas is MUCH more appropraitely ranked. #17 for beating an Auburn team that nearly lost to South Carolina is a bit strong IMO. Kinda odd to see NCSU & Wake getting the same amount of votes...this weekend's game might not be HUGE if we win, but it's a real killer should we lose.
10/9/2006 8:58:22 AM
Im not sure about FSU, but I know that this season is the first time Miami has been out of the top 25 this milennium.[b][i][u]
10/9/2006 8:59:35 AM
^ This is the 1st time since 1982 that both FSU & Miami were out of the top 25. That was the year before Miami won it all.
10/9/2006 9:01:33 AM
I guess Carolina sucks so much that a team must now win by 40+ in order to gain spots in the polls.
10/9/2006 9:41:28 AM
where's the requisite duke vote?
10/9/2006 9:44:06 AM
Any chance that we could be ranked going into the clemson game?
10/9/2006 9:46:24 AM
i think its a possibility if we don't lose again. if we are 7-2 with wins over 3 ranked teams (assuming the GT is still ranked and we beat them), i think that would warrant a top 25 ranking. due to our losses, i dont think we would crack the top 20, but i could see us 20-25.
10/9/2006 9:49:35 AM
we will be ranked if we beat wakeand i guess miamis gonna win it all next year[Edited on October 9, 2006 at 10:09 AM. Reason : trendy]
10/9/2006 10:08:52 AM
eh, im not so sure about that. the only teams that are ranked right now with 2 losses are ones that were ranked high and have lost since then. despite wakes record, i dont think a victory over them would be enough to bump us up a whole lot.
10/9/2006 10:13:49 AM
one game at a time guys. We have a tough Wake team this week.
10/9/2006 12:05:19 PM
A tough wake team that duke hung with and almost beat.
10/9/2006 12:05:54 PM
it will be hard moving up 8 slots IF we win this weekwe better hope for some upsets in the lower half and a win for us if we expect to be a top 25 team[Edited on October 9, 2006 at 12:08 PM. Reason : did you even check the first page]
10/9/2006 12:08:13 PM
Why is USC ranked so high?Do people think that the 2004 team is still out there?
10/9/2006 12:11:23 PM
^ Halo effect, of sortsThe coolest thing is that we're saying things like "we might be in the top 25 next week..."Seriously 3 weeks ago we were like "when's basketball season?"
10/9/2006 12:13:16 PM
^^Yes, they do. Similar to the constant ND overhype. But we will need to beat Wake & then Maryland to get ranked. If Wake had beaten Clemson it would be different, but voters are going to want to see us win on the road before giving us props.[Edited on October 9, 2006 at 12:15 PM. Reason : ]
10/9/2006 12:15:41 PM
Wake will be tough to beat. Even in their loss they looked decent--they were executing plays really well. Clemson just had too much firepower. Two of Clemson's RBs were 100 meter champions in Florida. If we do beat Wake, we might creep into the rankings. It will be tough though. Penn St, BC, FSU, and Miami are all on the fringe, and the teams i see falling out completely incase they lose next week are Boise St, Rutgers, Ok and Wisc (Ok usually bounces back, and Wisc always play tough).
10/9/2006 12:21:38 PM
I don't give a damn about rankings. I just want to see if we can handle a WFU team that has given us fits for years. And I can only wonder when our honeymoon will come to an end (and you know it's coming).

10/9/2006 2:57:46 PM
That loss to Akron is huge. 4-1, 2-0 looks a helluva lot nicer than 3-2, 2-0.
10/9/2006 2:59:05 PM
10/9/2006 3:03:58 PM
It's easy to say that as a State fan but I wanted to say the same thing when FSU drove 99 yrds to take the lead and yet...

Half the ACC is dancing on the verge... Not bad... not good but not particularly bad.
10/15/2006 8:42:50 PM
So after Miami shows that they are better fighters than football players, the receive more votes (17 vs. 13) Seems kinda fucked up to leave someone like them even contending for a top 25 spot
10/15/2006 8:57:49 PM
wv vs louisville will NEVER be 1 vs 2
