so I purchased a Rain laptop stand back in April (http://www.raindesigninc.com/ilap.html), and it's just not working for me. i'm looking for a replacement, and i'd like to see what others have been using. primary purpose for this stand/pad/etc is for comfortable use away from a desk. this macbook pro gets quite hot. thanks.

if you look at the photos they have, notice the black pad that's at the front, base of the thing. The metal wraps and stick into the pad. the problem i've found with their design is that the metal doesn't stay in that pad because the foam inside the pad isn't stiff. the pad gets twisted too easily, and comes right off.it looks great on the drawing board, but it's near useless in daily life.

sounds like you just need some epoxy to me

I wish epoxy would take care of it. The velvet material basically slips out of place, and the foam inside of it isn't sturdy/stiff enough to keep from bending out of shape.
