With the new basketball season on the horizon its time to "put him away".I know you guys hated him but watching Duke games will be so awkward this year now that he is gone. There has never been a player that could take over a college game the way he did. range unlimited. looking back on it, he was like a cancer to the team because when he was on the rest of the guys barely had to even play. the following is an amazing tribute to JJ that runs like a documentary on his carreer with some nice music and highlights. well made enjoyhttp://youtube.com/watch?v=qXEXmKz-94gThe big question is what will he do in the nba? I'm pretty sure morrison will dominate the same way. With the magic and Dwight Howard I think JJ will be a decent double digit scorer and move into the starting lineup this season. He was going up against entire defenses and won't get nearly as much attention in the nba. What do you guys think?I

I like NCSTATE too. Been to every home football game this year and what a story we are. This season is grounds for a rudy type movie.

10/8/2006 8:46:44 PM
jj is gonna suck it up in the nba... he is a small, slow white dude that can't defend and his only strength is spot up jump shots... the only player i can think of that has been remotely successful in the nba with jj type skills and abilities is steve kerr and he had michael jordan on his team

I think the site you were looking for washttp://www.thebluedevilweb.comorhttp://www.imafag.comI'm not quite sure which at this point

Redick is in a TERRIBLE situation. He would have been okay in:Phoenix (lots of spot up shooting)Houston (need a SG, T-Mac and yao get you open shots)Cleveland (desperately need shooting, Lebron gets you open shots all day)and maybe a FEW other teams. But in Orlando I doubt he even gets much playing time. You cant play him alongside Jameer Nelson no way. You just can not run two undersized guards like that. And theres no fucking way JJ can play on the ball.
10/8/2006 8:58:11 PM
Sure there were players better than him but none could take over a game the way he did.You obviously haven't seen JJ play the last two years of college if you think he is only a spot shooter or something like Kerr. JJ is anything but a spot shooter. Most of his shots were on the run, drifting or fading away. Watch the video provided if you don't remember. JJ is a complete scorer and was guarded by "nba defenders" during college as every team put their best defender on him. Many teams devoted entire defenses to "umbrellaing" jj. Nothing worked.I agree that he won't be a good defender in the nba but not many guys his size are. Its the nba.And I wish I was Socrates....the greatest mind in history.[Edited on October 8, 2006 at 9:08 PM. Reason : ^you make great points. hopefully he will be traded to the lakers or somewhere]
10/8/2006 9:07:01 PM
i don't think he is athletic enough to play in phoenix, he doesn't fit there style of play at all.... i dont like him in cleveland either, he can't play the point and lebron likes to play the 2 spot a lot.... his best chance to hit a few open 3's would come in houston, but he wouldn't help that team either... they don't have a strong point guard either and need to play T-Mac on the wing to keep defenses honest.... jj has seen his best days
10/8/2006 9:09:05 PM
10/8/2006 9:10:30 PM
^^^you need to stop saying thatteams completely modified their entire defenses specifically for david thompson. they double and triple teamed pistol pete and still couldn't stop either one[Edited on October 8, 2006 at 9:10 PM. Reason : .]
10/8/2006 9:10:34 PM
^^^ you must have never watched kerr in the nba.... he was pretty much exactly like jj, not only a spot up shooter...just a good pure shooter in general and he never got playing time anywhere other then alongside jordan in chicago, and his play was very limited there because he was such a liability in other aspects of the game[Edited on October 8, 2006 at 9:12 PM. dude, he was a great player but this is just nonsense...
10/8/2006 9:35:07 PM
Yeah come on dude...if you are a Duke fan like you say you are you should remember a fellow named Jason Williams a few years back??? Or how about Elton Brand before him?My God look within Duke and you can see people who took games over more than JJ.

10/8/2006 10:01:05 PM
I know there were Duke players that were better but none could take over a game the way JJ did. There has been no college player quite like JJ in my life.Kerr was a spot up shooter and not a dynamic scorer like JJ that can create his own shot.Kerr was like a young JJ
10/8/2006 10:21:44 PM
jj is the reggie bush of basketball. both the most overated overhyped players of thier sport and both benefited off being on the best team with a great complement player (lienhart and williams) and looking good on highlits. both had one amazing ability that not many people in college could handle (while handling the rest of their amazing team) and exploited it over and over (bush's speed jjs shot) AND WERE PRETTY BAD AT THE REST OF THE TRAITS PLAYERS AT THEIR POSITIONS HADboth are too small and not physically right for their pro position and neither will be able to exploit their ability the same way or be on one of the best teams. neither should have won the college player of the year (young and morrison)jj=reggie bushi know bush went #2 but would have went in the teens too if he was in the acc[Edited on October 8, 2006 at 11:03 PM. given the same system jj would have probobly won 1 toonot even taking into account the fact that gayj played in a conference.
10/8/2006 11:18:29 PM
jj also wasn't drafted #1 overall. And he isn't regarded as the savior of any team. People learned their lesson with Trajan Langdon

um...JJ showed he can create his own shot off the dribble against elite athletes all year. at worst JJ will open things up more for howard when he's on the floor by having one less guy able to double down.another tapehttp://youtube.com/watch?v=M_b89EeDznQ&mode=related&search=[Edited on October 9, 2006 at 2:58 AM. you won't see jj create any shots off the dribble in the NBA. he created very few totally on his own in college. the reason why jj was such a potent scorer at duke was because they ran there entire offense through him, which isn't going to happen in the nba... you have to be able to defend and play one-on-one to be affective in the NBA.... jj won't even be as affective as steve kerr, and his career scoring average was 6.0.... jj will play the exact same role, come off the bench at given times to knock down a couple open 3's, he won't play extended minutes because he is such a liability, he can't defend and thinking he can create a shot against the likes of bruce bowen and other nba guards is ludicrous
10/9/2006 10:21:21 AM
he wont have to create if he is the second or third pass out of a double team
10/9/2006 10:28:21 AM
tue, but that is all he will get... and that will be limited, especially in orlando... he won't play enough to get too many opportunities, like i said before, he is to much of a liability in other areas to make an open 3 here and there worth the consequences
10/9/2006 10:43:23 AM
The Magic and Bobcats are the only players in the Vince Carter market for next summer
10/9/2006 11:01:19 AM
Yeah, he sure took over against teams in the tournament ( NCAA, not ACC ) his whole career...
10/9/2006 12:28:43 PM
if you don't think jj created shots in college you need to watch the link i posted....dam dude, i provide the information right there in front of you and you still don't know what you're talking about. pshhhIt is true he won't need to create his shots with dwight howard and grant hill on his team but he can if need be.once he shakes this injury you guys will see
