upsetting top 25 teams tends to do thatmaybe we'll get WFs 3 votes if we beat them next week
10/8/2006 1:43:31 PM
wtf west virginia 2 first place votesthey'd get stomped by any of the teams above them and probably a few below
10/8/2006 1:44:22 PM
That's what people said in the Sugar Bowl last year. You have NO way of telling that without them playing those teams..
10/8/2006 1:45:47 PM
more reason why we need a top 8 playoff system
10/8/2006 1:46:21 PM
^^watching them play like shit in the first half of most games usually does it for me[Edited on October 8, 2006 at 1:46 PM. Reason : .]
10/8/2006 1:46:24 PM
UF has played like shit against some mediocre teams in the first half too. Ohio St. didn't look dominating for a lot of the game yesterday, USC hasn't look great either.Actually, and you'll probably like this, the best team I've seen this year in every game is Michigan...
10/8/2006 1:47:48 PM
i agree, i didnt want to say it because i am biasedI just think WVU needs to start putting some better schedules together. They play 1 good team and one solid one. The rest are cakewalks
10/8/2006 1:50:10 PM
Louisville and West Virginia will cancel one of them out..Ohio State and Michigan will do the sameI think Cal will finally beat USCSo if Florida runs the table...
10/8/2006 1:50:59 PM
yea the OSU vs UM game should be to go to the NC
10/8/2006 1:55:27 PM
yup... I have thought about heading up there for that game, just to tailgate, I hate both teams
10/8/2006 1:58:25 PM
ahait is some of the classiest tailgating th0you know about the blood drives and charity stuff that goes on around the game for both schools.

10/8/2006 2:20:28 PM
Michigan will be your National Champs
10/8/2006 2:34:31 PM

Hahaha, I love CFN's rankings:1. Ohio State (6-0)W, Bowling Green 35-7next game: Michigan StateIt might not seem fair, but eventually, style points are going to count. Ohio State doesn’t blow teams out, but it should’ve been able to sleepwalk its way to 50 points against Bowling Green. This is the number one team in the nation, but has it faced anyone who can throw? Has it faced a fully jelled offensive unit? It’s not OSU’s fault, but there’s not going to be a test until Michigan. 2. Florida (6-0)W, LSU 23-10next game: at AuburnIf Florida beats Tennessee at Tennessee, LSU, Auburn at Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Florida State at Florida State and the SEC title, if might be hard to keep it from the top spot. Everyone’s going to assume the Gators are going to roll over a struggling Auburn team: watch out. All the national love could go away in a big hurry.3. Tennessee (5-1)W, at Georgia 51-33next game: Alabama (Oct. 21)The Vols are playing with frightening precision and explosion on both sides of the ball. Georgia might not be a world-beater at the moment, but cranking out 51 points in Athens is as impressive as it gets. How great does the win over Cal look now?4. Michigan (6-0)W, Michigan State 31-13next game: at Penn StateMore and more, this is looking like the nation’s number two team. The defense has been terrific and the trio of Chad Henne, Mike Hart, and Mario Manningham is playing better than any threesome in the nation.5. Texas (5-1)W, Oklahoma 28-10next game: BaylorThis is a different Texas team than the one that lost to Ohio State earlier in the year. Colt McCoy is more poised and the D showed against Oklahoma how good it can be. Now the problem will be big games. Since few will have much of an interest in a rematch with the Buckeyes, only blowouts the rest of the way will get the Longhorns close.6. California (5-1)W, Oregon 45-24next game: at Washington StateYeeeeeesh. The Bears look as good as their yellow uniforms are ugly. That was a strong Oregon team that just got its doors blown off by DeSean Jackson and the Cal attack. Right now, Jeff Tedford’s bunch is playing better than anyone in the Pac 10.7. USC (5-0)W, Washington 26-20next game: Arizona State Call this a temporary slide until the offense proves it can be more consistent. Two straight games of needing a late stop to win doesn’t exactly inspire confidence considering the offensive machines ahead on the slate.Of course they make a point to stress this: "There's one very important distinction in the CFN rankings: these are based on how good the teams are and NOT how they're going to finish"

I agree that WVa needs to schedule tougher. They even had an interesting post over on SFN about the idea that WVa schedules weak all year, pile up a great record, only need to win/focus on two games (Louisville and the bowl game) and then use the pre-season ranking hype as a way to start high and stay high (by not losing) which is a free pass to another great win/loss record and another big bowl.But....and this is a big one...one poster pointed out schedules are made years in advance, and WVa couldn't have known they would have some tough competition in their conference yanked from them. That said, the poster didn't mention if the a few years out from now does WVa have tougher teams on their schedule.
10/9/2006 12:54:48 PM
don't blame WVU, blame the system
10/9/2006 1:07:55 PM
^^ Va Tech decided against renewing the series with them and UMd has fallen off the face of the earth again.. Those were two premium OOC games that they are left without. In conference they have three tough games. Pitt (who will be ranked if they win the next 2 and they should), Rutgers -- though i think they are overrated personally --, and Louisville.
10/9/2006 7:12:09 PM
Ohhhhh shit!Pitt and Rutgers!!!!!!!Scary!
10/9/2006 7:25:50 PM
THEY BEAT AN ACC TEAM K
10/9/2006 7:41:41 PM
west virginia schedule is weak... case closedmichigan should be 3
10/9/2006 8:03:18 PM
we need a good romping of the deacs. then we could see our team start to soar up in the polls. that said, polls are still meaningless this early in the season
10/10/2006 12:56:38 PM
we don't want them to soar up in the polls . . . our teams never seem to play well when they get ranked.
