http://raleigh.craigslist.org/zip/214020430.htmlsummary: they're blocking a drain and have to come out. Most between 3-8 feet tall, some taller. Majority of them are sycamore or poplar. You dig them out and fill the hole (rock, mulch, whatever as long as it's legal/safe) and you can have as many as you want. If you just want to cut them down and use the wood for something that's fine but first priority to people who want em alive.

PM me when you can get out here and get it/them ... I'm near Fuquay ... not planning in doing the ripping out and cutting down for another month or so when the weather stays cool but before it gets wintry and rainyI have two shovels you can use, although shovels are a bit of a commodity and the Apex dump is giving away mulch this weekend

they should go dormant within the month, right? I mean, arbor day foundation ships in early November, so I'd think they'd be dormant before that ... (right? correct me if I'm wrong, bc I'm just guessing here)

btttsomeone just came out and dug out 7 or 8 trees. Took him about 3 hours. Took a few pines and I think 3 maples. I'm gonna be home all day Friday (prefer no one come til after 2ish) and the w/end
10/3/2006 7:06:03 PM
u have any pics of the trees...?
10/3/2006 7:46:23 PM
No I don't, but I can tell you they're all very healthy. The sycamores seem to have gotten something eating the the leaves this year, but the bark is still healthy so a quick spray should take care of it. The big challenge is getting enough root so they don't starve then keeping the roots from drying out until you can plant. The sooner they go back in the ground the better.ALMOST FORGOT!! old CL ads are gone, but the trees are still here - lots of no-showsLAST CHANCE IS THIS WEEKEND

I want to thank you for offering these trees to keep them alive. I really wish that I had land of my own or I would be all over this. Best of luck finding good homes for them.

the sycamores are probably suffering from anthracnose, its bad around here almost no sycamore is unaffected by it
11/2/2006 4:04:35 AM
they have healthy bark and growing OK, but their leaves do seem a bit thin/papery -- someone who wants one might know better what to do with it. I haven't done anything with them. They seem strong enough to survive treatment next year ... they're going dormant now which should make moving them easier
