Hearing that Toney is a little more than just disappointed that Andre is starting and getting significantly more carries than he is (mostly about the carries...he thought it would be a little more even). I have been told that he's contemplating transferring. He's not looking at other schools yet, but it's definitely on his mind.I guess I can't blame him, but I wish kids would stick it out a little more these days. You've got to look at what could possibly happen. Andre could get hurt or he could leave after his junior year and Toney would be the main tailback again. Or Toney could get a little better and they could split carries evenly like Ronnie Brown and Cadillac Williams did. I still guess it's tough coming in as a 4/5-star tailback and still playing second fiddle as a sophomore.

If this actually is true, who didn't see this coming?
9/28/2006 9:55:17 AM
who thought we'd be able to keep 5 really good running backs?
9/28/2006 9:59:04 AM
Okay first of all Bobby Washington wasn't "really good". If Baker is leaving because he thinks he'd be a full-time starter at a similar school then he's probably wrong. If he's leaving because he thinks he could transfer almost anywhere and play behind a better offensive line then he's probably right.
9/28/2006 10:03:06 AM
his fumbling the football hasn't helped a whole lot either
9/28/2006 10:05:37 AM
depends on what constitutes a similar school, but i'd say he could start a lot of places
9/28/2006 10:06:04 AM
And he's not "leaving" yet...he's just thinking about it. It's not something that he's going to announce this week. Definitely a "wait til the season is over"....but he's unhappy with the way the carries are being spread out.

Brown is one of the best RB's in college football.Baker is pretty solid but he doesnt create as much on his own. He needs help from the o-line which we can't really give him.We need all the offense we can get we can't afford to waste too many carries on him...
9/28/2006 10:13:39 AM
I'm not denying that Toney may be upset, but it doesn't seem like there is that much of a disparity between the carries, etc.http://www.nmnathletics.com/fls/9200/stats/football/2006/teamcume.htm#TEAM.IND
9/28/2006 10:18:26 AM
Brown and Baker are both great RBsdont sleep
9/28/2006 10:23:44 AM
^^Southern Miss game...where Brown was hurt, skews those statistics a bit.
9/28/2006 10:30:28 AM
Where did you get this information?Besides, Toney is a better receiver than Brown and is getting more reps a game.
9/28/2006 10:56:17 AM
Toney fumbled the ball to lose his starting job last year. He fumbled the ball to lose more carries this year. If there's one thing we KNOW brown will do its holding onto the ball. Baker is getting lots of touches. He's also a step slower than Brown, which doesnt help things when our offensive line sucks asshole. I feel like he needs to get up on his toes a little more when he runs and that might help him get that step back that he seemed to have in high school. Its not like Brown is getting enough carries either. They both need over 10 and one of them needs 20 carries a game.

^^Same place I got the "Greco is going to transfer" information about 3 months before it even came up.[Edited on September 28, 2006 at 10:58 AM. Reason : .]

you have to actually substantiate this rumor or have enough credibility to back it up. You have neither.

Let's see...let me tell you who I get all of my information from so they can stop giving me information. That makes A LOT of sense.

i heard marcus stone is pissed he wasnt the hero and is tranferring next yearbut you aint hear that from me

making a prediction anyone could have made is not credibility. And why would your source be talking to you and not the 100s of people more connected in this realm with credibility?

he knew what he was getting into when he came here. now he didn't beat out brown (who is simply amazing) and wants to leave? whatever, i'm sure eugene would have no problem stepping up as the #2 back.

Just be glad we got a 4 star recruit from NC...one that didn't go to UNC. He is a bruiser that will get us big touchdowns in the red zone if nothing else. We need this guy to take some pressure of Brown too. I don't know how true it is but we can't lose this guy.

^ ^ Regardless of his disposition, she's not going to tell you he's not enjoying his current role, especially in the middle of the season.Anyway, All Rb's were given an equal amount of time to display their talents last season, and I think the coaches made solid calls in moving Blackman to WR and keeping B & B at RB. Davis to LB was a no brainer if he wanted an ounce of playing time this year, it was a win win for that guy. Washington transferring didn't hurt us I don't think, as he is an east-west runner like Booker at FSU. Oh yea, Amato saw TA fumble often, and now that he's in the postion of leverage, whom do you think is going to get the majority of the reps??? Would anyone see it differently? Has Brown even lost a fumble in 1 1/3 seasons?[Edited on September 28, 2006 at 1:19 PM. Reason : .][Edited on September 28, 2006 at 1:20 PM. Reason : .]

what reason does TB have to be disgruntled?has he seen what Andre has done this year? AB is amazing. TB should be happy with what he gets behind Andre's dominance.
9/28/2006 1:30:28 PM
^High school All-American running backs should be happy to be playing second fiddle on a mediocre team???Guys who are used to being "the man" are never happy when they are 2nd string. Jesus Christ you're retarded.
9/28/2006 1:33:49 PM
if you add the number of receptions that Baker is getting along with his carries, he touches the ball more than Brown...

well, I think it was either us, UNC, or UVA out of HS for him, and they are doing much worse than we are, and Duke could bite UVA this week, so I think he made the best choice out of HS of the teams he considered seriously. I got no idea where he would think about transferring and having to sit a year. Brown is also three years removed from high school come May
