I need basically my engine restored on my 1975 corvette. Not sure exactly what went wrong with it as its been sitting a few years and I never diagnosed it ever since i got so pissed the day it went down on me. Think it overheated and blew a head, doubt the block is cracked. anywayssss, is anyone willing to work on it, i dont care how long it takes you to fix it, and the best part is that you can do whatever you want to tinker around on it and see how fast u can get this baby to run...its a 400 smallblock, i would of course pay for the parts and all that mess, but like i said as far as labor goes i dont want something thats done in a week, just something for you to mess around on and see what u can do with it, im tryin to get it where i can sell it anyways for a manual or a 60s model, so if anyone knows where i can find one lemme know, one that needs work of course as i did all the restoration on this one myself.just give me some feedback plzzzz, and maybe some estimates as to how much it would cost for a regular grease monkey to fix it for me.

i admire you lack of concern for properly restoring something of value, that is only going to increase in value in years to come. not to mention the whole preserving an american icon thing.

you basically want someone to work on it for next to free so that you can sell it and by a different car? This sounds like some crap I would think up. [Edited on September 28, 2006 at 12:58 AM. Reason : l]

optmus u obviously didnt read the wholeeeeeee thingwhat i want is basically what skack said i want to preserve it and someone to do it right, but i also want them to have something to show with it, like something they can show to others about their work, keep it original for the most part to the untrained eye then have something in the guts of the car that are a showstopper. its all original right now and if someone would rather just keep it original and rebuild it thats fine as well...i just dont need it dont need it done anytime soon and take ur time.i prolly wont sell it but id loev to have a 60's model seeing as how they are going for $texas these days

or a kid have a crackhead.part of the deal of having a restored car is EITHER paying someone the big bucks to do it right OR doing it right your damn self.NOWHERE IN THIS HOBBY IS THERE ROOM FOR THIS SHIT JT3BUCKY, get the hell out and get a new hobby. may i suggest model trains. chump.

yea considering i dont know jack shit about internal combustion enginesi did completely take apart the car though inside and out to do the restoration, pretty much a full body off rest. so as far as the overall rebuilding i did ALL of that myself, which isnt too easy for those people that dont know how corvettes were built, which was a pretty terrible way back thenand yea i didnt think anyone in this area had the time for this kind of thing, prolly get my buddy back home to give it a try, only problem it took him 8 years to completely restore my dads firebird, hopefully wont take as long for just the engine here, and he has credentials dont worry, one of the best in NC, been on the discovery channel for some cars he made a few years back

if you're willing to yank it out and bring it over here, i could rebuild it for ya in about 2 weeks
9/29/2006 11:49:41 PM
Maybe Chip Foose can Overhaul it for you.Why don't you drop the engine and rebuild it again in your spare time. If you've already done it once it can't be all that hard.[Edited on September 30, 2006 at 9:17 AM. Reason : a]

im telling you that 400 small block is crap.....and if you cracked a head from overheating you are gonna pay some good money to get it running well before it craps out on you again.....you would be better off with one of these esp since you dont know shit about engines.....the question is can you even install one??.....the 454 might be a problem because of space....i mean how god damn fast do you want this fucking thing to be??....and how much money do you want to spend???http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&catalogIdentifier=Jegs_Direct&categoryId=22419&parentCategoryId=10763you might could go with this one instead....little cheaper too....http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=10001&catalogId=10002&catalogIdentifier=Jegs_Direct&categoryId=19685&parentCategoryId=10763is your tranny a TH350???....that will have an effect on what you can do....[Edited on September 30, 2006 at 10:48 AM. bigblueram is right, even if it wasn't offered that year, it still was in that body style vette in years past, thus not a big deal. There isn't very much to move around in the engine bay that isn't attached to the engine on old GM stuff anyway.
10/1/2006 1:40:25 PM
i never said he wasnt right....it will fit but might be a pain in the ass....possibly involving moving radiator, brake booster, master cylinder, fuel lines, a/c components, etc...that '75 might even need to have the engine mounts changed out??....ive never put a 454 in a vette.....i only know pontiacs which is GM but the 350, 400, and 455 are the same block so it makes it easy and engine changes are easy....but when it comes to the matching numbers value thing, that car is already fucked plus it is a mid 70's model like my car so there isnt really a huge market for them as being classics quite yet...looks tighter than a dick in an asshole....
