That was a cool site. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so damn far from Raleigh (5 hours, roughly). Since the events are on Sunday it makes them absolutely impossible to go to when I have work early on Monday morning. The club around here is great, but I wish I could hang out with my sister at more events.

That is a good track, but it is horrible to get to. No one knows where it is.
9/22/2006 10:08:47 AM
i'm gonna try to get the e30 out there
9/22/2006 11:07:51 AM
my car should be making its debut there!!!

i used to love racing at laurinburg since it was the fastest track at the time (might still be). always a good minute and a half. the downside of laurinburg is it was always hot as hell standing in the damn field with bugs flying all over you and since it was the fastest track, there was always the biggest turnout so sometimes you couldn't even get 4 runs in. leaving at 6am, standing in heat all day with bugs, and getting home at 8pm for 6 minutes of racing got old real quick. VIR is where it's at. only an hour away too.
9/23/2006 3:54:04 PM
track time on VIR != cheap
9/23/2006 4:19:58 PM
^^agreed Brian.
9/23/2006 11:42:17 PM
^^ but all the autoX's added up != VIR.save your money.you wont be going back to autoX unless you're dead broke.

fo' reah.
9/24/2006 11:59:40 AM
i'd like to build a car to do the high speed runs there sometime
9/24/2006 12:14:34 PM
^^^ just make sure you can afford to wad up your car like one of my friends did.
9/24/2006 5:04:12 PM
people wad up their cars in all sorts of motor sports.its just how smart/stupid you are.even on the local roads.
9/27/2006 1:34:50 AM
Finding the entrance isn't too bad, for the high speed runs its usually on Airbase road around the middle of the north/south runway. Look for a sign. http://tinyurl.com/fdddpOn the way out take Airport Rd to check out the jet graveyard.

^^ yeah, i know. and i think track overall is fairly safe. BUT in HPDEs you do have inexperienced drivers full of adrenalin pushing their cars up to the limit at high speeds. From hanging out with people that do this a lot, you find out that incidents aren't uncommon at all. The last time I did an event I saw 2 cars kiss the wall. My friend that wrecked wasn't doing anything stupid either. He just came around a corner at 115 and there were cars STOPPED. Rather than hit them, he swerved and luckily it was only his car that got damaged. All I'm saying is that there is a real possibility of causing some damage to your car on track, and if you can't afford to replace your car, you probably just need to stick with autox.
