Stop, take it to Mitsuba, I tried opening the extra abilities of my video card once (lesson learned), he was able to fix it. 829-0294. Ask for Mr Yang.

I killed an old Quattro 2 with a video BIOS misflash once.

I don't suppose they have a jumper on the card to revert back to the factory BIOS flash do they? I know it is done on some motherboards so if you toast it during the flash you can at least boot back up and re-flash.[Edited on September 22, 2006 at 2:27 PM. Reason : s]

Are you sure that wasn't a jumper to restore the bios to default settings? The one I'm talking about would actually revert to a completely separate running copy of the bios stored on the board that can't be overwritten by the BIOS flash. It's basically there just so that if you have a catastrophic failure during a flash you can boot up, re-run the bios flash (which only flashes the fubared copy), switch the jumper back, and reboot with the latest BIOS. Saves the board 99% of the time.I don't even know if they put them on desktop MoBos, but it would be nice as standard equipment on just about anything with an EEPROM that has to be flashed.[Edited on September 22, 2006 at 3:35 PM. ^ Generally, only nicer hardware manufactures add that feature.

pretty hard to really screw something with corrupt/incorrect firmware, if it isn't required for boot... and even if it is the mainboard it probably has a JTAG interface without the header, or PCI JTAG interface you can reflash with[Edited on September 22, 2006 at 8:24 PM. Reason : *]
