(yes, it's in the other thread but this sort of stuff deserves its own thread -- similar to the chris wright deal)JJ Hickson (6'9" 220lbs), 5 Star big man from Georgia is visiting this weekend. Show him some love at the game if you see him. He'll probably be sitting in the same area that Chris Wright did. Chants, signs, anything. We need big guys, and this is one of the best in the country. FLA and TENN are also looking good for him.

^Maybe not -- but Sid basketball is going to be much different than Herb basketball.
9/19/2006 8:38:34 PM
yeah, we're gonna score so much more points than the other squad, so we won't need a decent D

9/19/2006 8:44:54 PM
some people across the field heard them but we only had about 30 people in on it.
9/19/2006 8:45:50 PM
we should also see if he can play football
9/19/2006 8:46:49 PM

he'd better lift some weightsi hope he's not a senior
9/19/2006 9:04:36 PM
If we really want to land this guy, maybe we shouldn't take him to the game eh? Give him a quick tour, show him the dance team/cheerleading squad while they're stretching or something, throw him in a limo and hightail it back to the RBC or Reynolds before the game starts. I mean, you think he'll be impressed when Amato shows up on the jumbotron and everyone is booing him the hell out?
9/19/2006 9:09:57 PM
[quote]Hahah I hope we sign him before this year starts then.If you think we are going to be good this year then you have a suprise coming in November.he was referring to Florida
9/19/2006 9:10:30 PM
He wont be as good as ced I whish he was still playing
9/19/2006 9:12:07 PM
these guys don't care about a nat'l title, they want somewhere to play and get noticed as soon as possible.
9/19/2006 9:12:51 PM
9/19/2006 9:13:15 PM
not a good game for him to go to, it's gonna be freakin empty(relatively)

Good basketball players are competitive, competitive players want to win a championship.
9/19/2006 10:15:30 PM
have you heard of the word "Ego"? "Money"?you're trying to tell me there aren't players who just want to go to college as a bridge to the NBA?[Edited on September 19, 2006 at 10:17 PM. Reason : hds]

I think it's MUCH easier to rebuild a basketball team than a football team. Football is the ultimate team game, case in point, the year after Philip left, we had loads of talent at every postion except one, which cost us big. All it takes is 2 solid basketball players to build around in recruiting, preferably McDonalds guys . Getting the ball rolling in basketball is just easier, one recruit can spurn another, and that's all it takes to get a good team going and one season of rebulding is possible over 4-6. Possible, not proboble, but there's no reason we should struggle more than 2 seasons, but we very well could.
9/19/2006 10:17:00 PM
If it is easier to build a great basketball team than a great football team, then why doesn't every school have a good basketball team? You may be able to build around 2 guys, but finding and getting those 2 guys is much harder than football.
9/19/2006 10:30:31 PM
in basketball 2 players = 40 percent of your team on the courtin football 2 players= <10 percent of your team on the fieldA couple studs in basketball can make a much bigger impact than in football

gameday -- don't forget to show him some love if you see him this afternoon
9/23/2006 9:13:06 AM
seriously, if i was 18 looking to play somewhere in college, id rather have someone come up to me and say something about going to ncsu instead of doing stupid ass cheers and signs, you guys are lame.
9/23/2006 9:33:57 AM
Julius Hodge liked our stupid ass cheers & signs when we were recruiting him.We did that at the red & white game his h.s. senior year & committed right after that.[Edited on September 23, 2006 at 10:37 AM. Reason : ]

i wonder if this dude even stayed past halftime
9/25/2006 1:31:56 AM
I would be willing to say yes considering his quotes on the subject. Why do you always hate on state?
9/25/2006 1:43:37 AM
I could have sworn I read that he left with about 8 minutes to go.
9/25/2006 1:44:51 AM
what were his quotes?
9/25/2006 1:46:33 AM
I've read that he stayed all the way through.Doesn't matter though, said he had a great time.
9/25/2006 1:46:46 AM
9/25/2006 2:45:19 AM
uhmmmi dont follow ur statement.im pretty sure he said it right.
9/25/2006 2:49:07 AM
9/25/2006 3:04:03 AM
he is saying we were all even and the team was unitedwhen he left, there was a hole and it wasnt a whole talented teami get what he meant completely, the leadership was gone
9/25/2006 3:34:59 AM
Maybe thats what he meantBut what he said is that football is "the ultimate team game"And then he used an example of how 1 guy out of 22 starters left and the wheels fell off.Doesn't sound like such a team game to me when 1 player is that important.[Edited on September 25, 2006 at 5:23 AM. How is this so hard to understand?
9/25/2006 8:04:55 AM
i talked to him at the game for like 20 minutes. He didnt seem that interested and kept sending text messages on his phone. So i had this hot girl sit next to him and talk to him. hopefully this made the game a little better for him, but who knows. I tried atleast
9/25/2006 8:19:21 AM
he was probably tired as shit by game time after playing pick-up basketball, campus tours, and team cookout all day.
9/25/2006 8:27:52 AM
^^ That's the worst lie I have ever seen
9/25/2006 11:41:26 AM
9/25/2006 11:55:04 AM
i saw him with the whole coaching staff with hickson at the farmer's market saturday morning. i thought he looked pretty apathetic, too. however, it may have been because he was sick, because larry harris disappeared for awhile and came back with a box of tissues and jj kept blowing his nose. just a thought.
