Now that it is clear that the Panthers aren't gonna contend for the SB, and it is looking unlikely that the Steelers are gonna repeat, you people might as well jump on the San Diego Chargers bandwagon. I'm gonna go ahead and predict that the Chargers will win at least 12 games this year, and they could be superbowl contenders. Here's why:- They have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Their front 7 was phenomenal last year, but the secondary was the achilles heel. This year, with the addition of McCree and Cromartie and the maturation of Quintin Jammer, they look straight-up nasty. They are right up there with the Bears and Ravens on defense.- LaDainian Tomlinson and Michael Turner make up the best 1-2 punch at RB in the NFL. If you haven't seen Turner play, you should check him out. He looks a lot like a young Jamal Lewis.- Antonio Gates is still the best pass-catching tight end in football- Rivers looks like he has been studying a lot of film over the last 2 years. He is playing like a veteran.- Easy scheduleTheir biggest weakness is on the o-line, which is inexperienced and thin. But it has looked very good so far against a couple of very bad teams.I predict 13-3 and an appearance in the AFC championship game.

Norm Chow called it three years ago.

The Panthers don't have the schedule this year to start out slow. They are in a lot of trouble. But enough about them.Take it from Peter King if you don't believe me. The Chargers are gonna be a force.I think he read my post before writing this. Or maybe great minds just think alike:
9/19/2006 1:48:26 AM
steelers aren't out of it after 1 loss, but i'll definitely be pulling for phil to continue to succeed.until he plays pittsburgh of course. then i'll just hope he has a good game but falls short of victory.
9/19/2006 1:51:26 AM
well the steelers didnt look good tonight
9/19/2006 1:54:09 AM
can't argue there.they didn't look good when they lost 3 in a row last year, either.
9/19/2006 1:56:00 AM
I'll be at the Chargers-Steelers game cheering my ass off. And this year the Chargers don't have Brees to choke the game away, so I am predicting a victory for the Bolts.

im on it.i wont be buying a chargers hat or anything, but if its on a tv at the bar or something, ill be paying more attention.
9/19/2006 8:55:20 AM
Tiki and Jacobs is nowhere near Tomlinson and Turnerneither of the Giants' RBs are as good as their counterparts on the Chargersalso, when the fuck have the Chargers been hyped? They came out of NOWHERE a few years ago to go 12-4 and since then have been expected to be a good team, but not great. I have never heard any excessive Chargers hype, the Raiders are the team in that division (except for this season) that is always expected to go to the playoffs and never does (minus the SB year, which didnt really happen). The Redskins are the consistently overhyped NFC team.

it's a good thing all you bandwagon fans live in Raleigh because tickets are a fucking bitch to find now
9/19/2006 5:50:22 PM
i guess i just dont understand why someone would adopt a football program across the fucking country just because one player played college football for their school.
9/19/2006 6:08:59 PM
its fun to have interest in a team, and what better reason than their starting qb being your school's prodigal son.
9/19/2006 6:10:40 PM
9/19/2006 6:11:39 PM
^^^ because they (we) are fans of Philip Rivers. He chose NCSU. Where he plays NFL football is arbitrary. I'd love to have him on the Saints.

9/19/2006 6:25:29 PM
how long have these four players been playing?
9/19/2006 6:30:02 PM
la dee da, kitna has been playing longer than pRiv but phil looks a hell of a lot better THIS SEASON.and LT has been better than tiki in the past anyway, i dunno about turner.[Edited on September 19, 2006 at 6:33 PM. Reason : hfds]
9/19/2006 6:33:02 PM
The Chargers and Giants both have loaded backfields. My personal opinion is that the Chargers backfield is more loaded.Tiki is a great running back who runs behind a great offensive line, but Tomlinson is in a league of his own. Michael Turner has been more impressive than Brandon Jacobs so far this season, albeit against weaker competition. They were both sick in the preseason. We'll see how this year plays out.
9/19/2006 8:44:09 PM
the point is, all 4 are starting-caliber running backs
9/19/2006 8:49:30 PM
i was down with the chargers bandwagon sine day one of rivers getting PT
9/19/2006 8:54:27 PM
okay okay ill stop arguing for the sake of arguingbut i swear i see tiki making way more game-deciding(best way i can put it) runsbut maybe thats cuz i watch all the giants games and only catch LT on espnokay im still arguing
9/19/2006 8:54:30 PM
nice rivers to parker passhttp://www.digitalmailmaker.com/dropbox/parkers-catch.html
9/19/2006 10:12:07 PM
I think that was a poor pass selection, but hard to argue w/ the results
