if the conference champion isnt in the bcs rankings (i think it only goes to like 16) they can select a team from the conference that is ranked to the bcs bowl on behalf of the conference. this almost happened the year we were good and anqwan boldin ended up playing qb but i think we missed it by like 1 spot.i could see this happening if we won the acc this year. the winner of our division will liekly have 2 losses.

I don't think so.. wasn't FSU UR last year?[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 2:42 PM. Reason : x]

but was somebody else in it? like the year we were good we barely werent in it i dont even think fsu was in the top 25 but they went cuz nobody else was in it

Bowls could choose any team they want. The ACC has decided that now bowls have to select in rank order, though, starting this year (IIRC).The BCS doesn't use the typical bowl rules, though, and takes the conference champ (+ at large bids if qualified).

Really? I hadn't heard that. I know the year we finished 11-3 we were actually 4th in the ACC but for some reason were taken with the 2nd choice for the Gator Bowl. It was a good choice but if that new rule was in place back then we'd have been looking at another Tangerine Bowl..Interesting..

so non conference games dont matter anymore. that could work out well for us this year
9/18/2006 2:48:02 PM
Yeah, they started talking about it after BC got shafted last year. The idea is that teams should be selected based on merit, not the amount of fans that will travel.
9/18/2006 2:48:16 PM
The conference champs go to the bcs bowl. I believe it is the conference (when you have automatic bids/tie-ins) that decides who goes and we do it by sending the conference champ.
9/18/2006 3:33:23 PM
The bowl games don't Strictly have to choose in order. They can choose a team ranked higher or lower as long as they finish within 1 game of their selection spot in the bowl rankings for our conference.

^that is correct the last I heard about the non-BCS bowl selections. That is how we got into the Gator Bowl that year, because we should have gone to the Tang bowl for the 4957890435890234859023448 time.

u never know. our division is really weak and if it comes down to 1 game anything can happen. i mean cmon wake and bc are the drivers right now.
9/20/2006 5:32:43 PM
we won't win an ACC game, let alone the conference
9/20/2006 10:09:24 PM
ok lets make a deal. if we don't win an acc game i'll pay you 500 bucks. if we win an acc game you pay me 250
9/20/2006 10:37:35 PM
how about this?i will pay you $50 if we win 4 games in the ACC or more.if not, you pay me $30.
