PCXXXX

XXXX = bandwidth

pc 3200 has 1.1 gb/sec more than pc 2100

based off of the clockspeed of the ram and something

SOOO

if my mainboard has the following specs what kind of memory can i get?

Contents

* Tested Memory
* Important Information About Testing Levels
* System Memory Features

Tested Memory

Memory testing has been performed under the following category:

Advanced Tested Memory
Intel provides the Advanced environmental test procedures, test software and necessary hardware to an independent test lab to perform Advanced testing as requested by the memory vendors.
Memory tested by Computer Memory Test Labs (CMTL).
Note: This link will take you away from Intel's web site.

Intel Internal Tested Memory
Intel's has a limited amount of memory tested for the desktop board. These part numbers may not be readily available throughout the product life cycle.

System Memory Features

The D845GBV board provide the following memory features:

* Two DIMM sockets supporting 2.5 V (only) 184-pin 200/266 MHz Double Data Rate (DDR) SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
* Unbuffered non-ECC DIMMs only
* Maximum total system memory: 2 GB; minimum total system memory: 64 MB
* Serial Presence Detect (SPD) DIMMs only
* Suspend to RAM

CAUTION:
Do not use ECC DIMMs with the D845GBV board. Using ECC DIMMs could damage the Desktop Board.

Integrator's Notes:

* Registered DIMMs are not supported on the D845GBV board.
* Remove the AGP video card before installing or upgrading memory to avoid interference with the memory retention mechanism.
* This board has been designed to support DIMMs based on 512 Mbit technology for a maximum onboard capacity of up to 2 GB, but this technology has not been validated on this board.

Note:
To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM and PCI33 SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance.

The following table lists the supported DDR DIMM configurations.
DIMM Capacity Configuration(Note) DDR SDRAM Density DDR SDRAM Organization Front-side/Back-side Number of DDR SDRAM Devices
32 MB SS 64 Mbit 4 M x 16/empty 4
64 MB SS 64 Mbit 8 M x 8/empty 8
64 MB SS 128 Mbit 8 M x 16/empty 4
128 MB DS 64 Mbit 8 M x 8/8 M x 8 16
128 MB SS 128 Mbit 16 M x 8/empty 8
128 MB SS 256 Mbit 16 M x 16/empty 4
256 MB DS 128 Mbit 16 M x 8/16 M x 8 16
256 MB SS 256 Mbit 32 M x 8/empty 8
512 MB DS 256 Mbit 32 M x 8/32 M x 8 16

Note:
In this column, "DS" refers to double-sided memory modules (containing DDR SDRAM devices on both sides) and "SS" refers to single-sided memory modules (containing DDR SDRAM devices on only one side). "

but you could always put faster stuff in there... the mobo should have a list of the numbered bits...

only 2 slots? that sucks

it could mean just any DDR sticks

see if you can find what the bandwidth is for the 512 you have currently.. and buy a gig of the same stuff.

googling information on that motherboard, it looks like it supports up to PC2700.

^agreed, get identical sticks so you can run dual-channel... Assuming the motherboard can do that.
