My sister is a Japanese teacher and wants help setting up a website. I have no problem building a site, but I've always had some place to put it (State's Unix account, work, etc). Now I'm trying to find a good place to put it.You all know of any free web hosting that doesn't add lots of crap to the page? A simple naming scheme would be good, too. It'd be cool if it looked like we had our own domain or something.

Ok. I don't mind coughing up a couple dollars a year for a domain. On webhostingtalk (thanks dFshadow), I found I can get .info addresses for 2.49 from http://www.hostway.com/domain-name/index.html.Finding a host looks like it'll cost a lot more. 1and1 (thanks quag) seems to have a pretty good domain+hosting deal from what I've seen so far. But $28 year after year still seems a bit much... Any more affordable suggestions?

if you can't afford $28/year, I don't know if you should be spending any money.

how is $28/year too much?how much do you spend on cable tv, internet, eating out, gasoline, clothing, etc every year. $28 is a drop in the bucket. esp for the service that 1and1 offers compared to many other big companies.
