sigh, just b/c the deal was for 25 years doesn't mean it lasted that long.... though think of how different the NBA would have been with Magic playing through till the early '00's

I saw this come across the ESPN ticker and I laughed at them accidentally putting a 1 in front of the 5. I didn't actually consider for a second that it was a real deal, but then I got home and saw it. I guess it should be no surprise. This is the same bunch of jackasses that gave Alexi Yashin a 10 year deal. And fired Peter Laviolette a year after he took them to the playoffs. Then of course this summer they hired Neil Smith as their GM only to turn around a few weeks later and fire him, hiring Garth Snow (who was still counting on the team's salary cap as a player LOL). And oh yes, let's not forget that Charles Wang has actually seriously considered the idea of scouting Japanese sumo wrestlers as goaltender prospects. On the upside, if DiPietro turns into a star goalie, they've got the guy for the rest of his career. But, of course, if he is a bust, then they are fucked. Also if he has a career ending injury he will have a nice fat paycheck to collect until he is 40 years old.
