I'm looking to get a good workout in my apartment/my apartment complex. We have a weight room but its pretty small, stinky, and limited. (no free weights, just a large universal pully machine and some treadmills)So now the question is - within the apartment and possibly outside (like running, etc), what can I do to get a real good full body workout in? I'm not looking to get huge, just put on a little bit and stay in shape. Things like pushups, situps, smaller free weight expercises, resistance bands, etc -- and what to do.. list any help here. Thanks!

Virtually all Navy SEAL workouts are done without assistance of a gym in spite of what people may think. The Complete Navy SEAL Workout or any similar miscellaneous title will solve your problem.

pushups, pull ups, sit ups, jumping jacks/star jumps, scissor kicks, squat thrusts

Beat it with the left hand occasionally too, that should fix your problem.

I highly recommend getting a medicine ball, resistance bands, and dumbells. Whenever I can't make it to the gym or just want to get a quick workout in thats what I use. You can get a great full body workout with that set-up.

I take it you are out of school. If not, you are an idiot. If so fucking join a gym or the y. Its money much better spent than on beer, sodas or what ever shit you put in your body. If you really can't afford it, take a look at the seal book and http://www.t-nation.com/portal_includes/articles/2002/237death2.html[Edited on September 14, 2006 at 11:40 AM. Reason : ]

push ups: 20-30 with your arms spread wider than your shoulders. 20-30 "regular" with your hands shoulder width. 20-30 with hands shoulder width fingers pointing inward @ each other. 20-30 with your thumbs and index fingers touching in a triangle/diamond shape. elevate your feet if you feel froggy.you should be pretty spent if you do them correctly, w/ 5 min breaks in between.dips: use a chair, face away w/ your hands on the seat. 3-4 sets of 20-30 reps...put some weight on your lap if you need. pullups: pretty self explanatorycrunches: dittoLeg lifts: while laying on your back elevate your feet as long as possible repeat a few timesresistance bands, and a simple set of free weights can also be used for a variety of things.

there's a lot of ways to make regular moves like pushups and situps harder (diamond cutter pushups, situps with your feet in the air, ect)and if you have a pullup bar then you're really in the money
9/14/2006 1:33:57 PM
weighted pushups, weighted pullups (a pullup bar is cheap and easy to put up), lunges/squats, etc.and don't worry about "getting huge"...size is more a function of diet than lifting

Find empty keg shells, fill with sand or water...profit.

for rock climbing they make this thing called a "hangboard" that you can bolt right to your wall (on studs of course). It has a lot of handholds that allow you to do pullups with your hands in various positions to work different muscles. You can also do regular pullups, the only difference is that you can't wrap your hand all the way around the grip like with a bar. Most of them include small grips for the hardcore people who do like, one finger pullups. But overall the board has a lot of possibilites for a normal person to train with, including slanted grips that you can't get with a normal bar. They can be pricey though, around $50-70 ]
