I have a question about ebayIf you're local to a seller, can you arrange to meet to make the transaction? Or does everything have to happen online? It would be really stupid to pay 50 for shipping when in the vicinity of the seller
9/5/2006 9:13:58 PM
yes you can...
9/5/2006 9:18:38 PM
pm me your reserve and lets go from there. I am very interested.
9/5/2006 9:31:40 PM
$1.50

9/6/2006 9:58:31 AM
woah you only have 1 feeback? you're losing a few hundred there easy
9/6/2006 10:15:57 AM
^agreed. unless someone thinks they are getting a GREAT deal (far less than you are hoping to sell it for), they are unlikely to buy something expensive from an ebayer with a feedback rating of 1. you should have gotten a friend with a feedback rating of > 50 to sell if for you and sold your laptop for some more money.i see one wolfwebber already bid...or was just trying to bump up the price. not much point in bidding 20 bucks on a laptop with a reserve pricemake that 2 twwers...one with a potentially serious bid[Edited on September 6, 2006 at 12:44 PM. 9/6/2006 2:25:42 PM
maybe you people dont understand that it is on ebay. you need to bid on ebay.
9/6/2006 2:32:33 PM
does it make that big a difference only having 1 feedback?
9/6/2006 4:08:04 PM
i mean, worst case is that i dont get my reserve price...right?
9/6/2006 4:10:24 PM
^^^ don;t need to bid on ebay as he can end the auction early if he wants to so long as we agree on a price
9/6/2006 4:24:56 PM
actually if the reserve is met, he cant retract the offer just because he wants to.
9/6/2006 5:24:12 PM
9/6/2006 7:22:31 PM
damn thats not a bad computer, whats the reserve?
9/6/2006 7:25:17 PM
^^^ Uh...NO.... I use ebay on a daily basis and you can nd an auction early whenever u want to- even if you couldn;t- the point is that there are plenty (whether is be ethical or not) ways to not be forced into selling the item- PLENTY!!!
9/6/2006 7:39:32 PM
9/6/2006 7:43:10 PM
According to ebay rules, posting it on their site is a binding contract to sell the item to the highest bidder on that site. You can not cross post on different auction sites. All I need do, If I was to win on there, and was outbid on here, is to contact Ebay with an image of this thread, and they would take it from there. You people really dont understand laws and contracts. If he was to sell to a different bidder, it would be easy enough to sue him for a computer of equal quality, as well as lawyer costs.
9/6/2006 8:25:18 PM
no- not really... if you want to be technical about it- Lets say I am willing to pay $500 cash right now for it. I could go on ebay- bid $500- he goes on and ends the auction for that offer- and sells to the "highest bidder"......
9/6/2006 8:30:21 PM
yes but in order to do that, you need to bid on ebay, like i have stated multiple times.

9/6/2006 9:13:13 PM
haha- did u notice that all the bidders on that listing are "private"- weird?
9/6/2006 9:16:01 PM
yea i did notice...why is that?
9/6/2006 9:21:21 PM
i couldn;t give you a difinitive answer- but I will say that I was selling my toshiba on there and got a selling offer of $1200 from a similar situation- ended up being a scammer, i didn;t ship it- still got charged $110 in sellers fees and it took them a month to refund me. so not to bust a bubble but there is a chance that those are bullshit bids which is why the other "closed listings" have sold for far less than thatMy laptop was 6 months old, had a 3 year accidental warranty, 120gb HD, 2 mb , 17" lcd display - blah blah blah (top of the line at time) specs that i spent almost $2900 on and it wound up selling for $700 on ebay-laptops depreciate so quick- I am interested in this and if you want a cash buyer for a little less than you were hoping but right this minute and hassle free- shoot me a pm with you bottom dollar[Edited on September 6, 2006 at 10:04 PM. if you insist on using a reserve (and are prepared for the low bids that result) be sure to post the reserve amount in the ad so people know what theyre dealing with. otherwise you stuff probably wont sell and you'll be out the listing fees.i've sold at least 50 laptops on ebay and have NEVER been disappointed with the final selling price. (but I don'thave 1 feedback ) Assuming your laptop doesn't sell...build your feedback to at least 10 by buying 10-15 various instant delivery items (ebooks, coupons etc) which are usually priced around $0.25-$0.99. After receiving feedback relist your item for $0.99 starting price. Start it on a Thursday and set it for a 10 day auction (for only 10 cents more) and you'll be amazed by how much $$$ you get. Also put more tech specs in the title, use the subtitle for "good condition" etc. take pictures on the minor specs and post them too...charge less for shipping, its only $10-$20 to ship that via fedex anywhere in the 48 states with signature...$50 shipping turns people off. talk more about he laptop in the ad, tell them its lightly used, talk about the current software config.do all this and you'll be a happy boy[Edited on September 11, 2006 at 10:05 PM. thanks....will try that if this doesnt work out
9/12/2006 11:00:28 AM
im calling bullshit on this. $2550? give me a fucking break. you surely bid on your own laptop.
9/12/2006 1:33:01 PM
well if his reserve was set to 500, theres no way he would bid it up to 2550 himself.looks like a scammer or something...that laptop isn't worth $1000, much less $2550.keep us updated divingguy04
9/12/2006 1:35:34 PM
^^^^thanks for that...i really wish i knew some ebay tips and tricks...i have tried to use ebay once and only once cause i dont think i'd get what i wanted for the item, and i dont want to go through the trouble if i'm gonna get less than what its worth for the itemssome people say well if you know how much you want for something then why not set a reserve, but i see a lot of auctions on ebay where there is a reserve and therefore no one has bid on the item...same reason i never do buy it now, cause it seems like the buy it nows never have any BIDS on them either
9/12/2006 1:41:50 PM
yeah never use reserve, have a feedback of at least 10 if not more. and do your best (even taking a hit on an auction every now and again if you have to) to keep your feedback at 100% positive. if you do it right, you'll never be dissatisfied with selling prices...and often you'll be all like wtf, i though this thing would sell for $200 less!
