I have an EXTREMELY important letter coming to me from Salt Lake City Utah. It was sent on September 1st, and its going to Goldsboro, NC (my home town, about an hour southeast of here). Anyone know what day I should be expecting to get this letter? Thanks for your help.
9/5/2006 2:33:19 PM
Not to be a bitch or anything, but if its soooo important, why didn't you pay for tracking?
9/5/2006 2:37:12 PM
this is unable to be determined without a tracking method
9/5/2006 2:47:48 PM
Certified Mail FTW
9/5/2006 2:47:57 PM
yep, if it was extremely important it should have been sent certified and with tracking
9/5/2006 2:50:28 PM
agreed with the above comments. but to speculate, i would expect it to arrive tomorrow
9/5/2006 2:57:45 PM
5-7 business days is normal for that kind of distance.
9/5/2006 2:58:18 PM
^ I agree
9/5/2006 3:03:20 PM
yep, if it was extremely important it should have been sent certified FedEx and with tracking
9/5/2006 3:08:51 PM
You guys should shut up about certified mail and tracking. Maybe he really looks forward to Mormon junk mail or something.
9/5/2006 3:10:01 PM
Well, then just ask the Prophet. I think he's in prison somewhere close, give him a buzz
9/5/2006 3:13:19 PM
this is def not junk mail. Im sure im gonna get alot of *nice comments after this. But I am going on a 2 year mission for my church and this is the letter finding out where I am being sent. I wish it had tracking but it doesnt. So you think maybe tomorrow?
9/5/2006 3:20:06 PM
call the people that sent it - ask them to just tell you
9/5/2006 3:20:53 PM
thats important and all, but not I NEED THIS RIGHT NOW important.
9/5/2006 3:28:59 PM
i didnt say its "i need right now" important. But I am in raleigh working and taking classes full time, so it would be nice to have an idea of what day it was coming so I could make plans to drive back to gboro to get the letter.
9/5/2006 3:32:27 PM
Good luck on your mission Do you have any pen pals yet? I had a buddy who was assigned to D.C. and, of course, he was really only able to write letters to people, so we wrote back and forth. It was fun I hope the mission is a positive experience for you.
9/5/2006 3:34:34 PM
9/5/2006 5:40:52 PM
yep and the USPS tracking system is still days behind at times. With FedEx you will get a notification on your cell phone while the guy is just driving away if you set it up right.
9/5/2006 5:49:02 PM
dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb
9/5/2006 9:46:00 PM
the letter was sent from Utah on friday, and we just had a no-mail holiday weekend. my guess is thursday at the very earliest, but most probably sometime friday or saturday.
9/5/2006 9:48:26 PM

9/6/2006 2:41:11 PM
Now we have to know what it is. I sure hope it's not a letter from your Nigerian financial partner containing a deed to an oil field that he promised to send in exchange for $1642.24 drafted from your account.
9/6/2006 2:45:19 PM
i already said what it was way up near the top
9/7/2006 12:05:23 AM
^^^ i insured a package that never made iti am going to the post office to see what i can do about it tomorrowthe back of the thing i have says they want a sales receipt but i dont have one so if you insure something make sure you know what you need to file a claim before you send the itemmy mistake was doing just insurance and not tracking or delivery confirmation, oh well i hope they can help me
9/7/2006 12:12:14 AM
Dude I know a guy who did the two year stint to disappear for a while. He was supposed to come back to State after doing his mission, but he never did.I know your people will kill me, but two things are true.LSD ruins lives.&The LDS ruin lives.
9/7/2006 12:12:18 AM
if he did it to disappear for a while then he obiviously didnt do it for the right reason.
9/7/2006 12:15:10 AM
btw, nice little analogy therecomparing the mormon church to lsd
9/7/2006 12:16:21 AM
i guess they dont have fax machines in goldsboroeither that or your parents are lazy morons
9/7/2006 12:22:17 AM
I am just concerned with the human elements of life somewhat. It hurt to see a friend with potential interrupt college for two years and never return.I agree that a healthful balance of spirituality and priorities in real life are the best combination, so I send you my regards on your endeavor.
9/7/2006 12:27:56 AM
well i appreciate thatim thinkin tomorrow will be the big day when I find out where I am goingnow the question is, should I post the big news in this thread or make a new one entitled"IM GOING TO ______ !!!!!"
9/7/2006 12:56:13 AM
C'mon guys. You can get it certified, overnight, etc. if you are sending the letter. If you aren't then you are pretty much at the mercy of whatever method the sender decides to use.
9/7/2006 9:17:14 AM
didnt come today guys. This whole waiting stuff is killing me. Maybe tomorrow I guess.
9/7/2006 1:53:07 PM
Haha. I remember those days. I remember having to read the location about three times before the words started to sink in - then I went off to a world map to get educated a bit.
9/7/2006 2:37:01 PM
where did you go? I have a feeling that Im gonna be staying in the US. Everyone recently that have been sent out of country has had to wait 3-4 weeks to get theirs. I sent mine off on Aug 27th and my call was mailed off Sept 1st. This new online system is quick, but i think that means i'll be in the US.
9/7/2006 3:12:19 PM
Santiago, Dominican Republic. So, they have an online system now?
9/7/2006 3:36:54 PM
9/7/2006 3:47:39 PM
I made the mistake of buying one of my textbooks on half.com and the seller mailed it. Now two and a half weeks later, I still haven't received the book.
9/7/2006 7:57:35 PM
^ What was the seller supposed to do? Use magic fairy dust to and have elves fly it on a sleigh to you?
9/7/2006 8:11:56 PM
Perhaps that's what the half-assed.com seller did to send the book. I also bought textbooks from two different Amazon.com marketplace sellers. Those books arrived within a week of my order, and the shipping charges were less.
9/7/2006 8:30:24 PM
yea everything is completely online now; the online form just gets passed along from me, to the bishop, to the stake pres, then to utah. and yea, it seemed the wait for in the states was shorter. I really wanna go foreign and I would love to learn a foreign language. And its funny you said that about your wife, my older brother just got back a few months ago from his mission. He said that he really hoped he didnt get sent to utah or something. He gets his call and.....Salt Lake City South. He hated it to begin with but loved it in the end, and actually told me to hope for Utah. It would be a really cool experience to go foreign, but whereever i am sent i know i'll love it. I just keep tellin myself, its now where you are, but what you are doing.
9/7/2006 10:43:24 PM
^true. And besides, you don't have to go to a foreign country to get called to a foreign speaking mission I suspect that today is another pins and needles day? Are you just going to go home for the weekend in hopes that it will come today or tomorrow?
9/8/2006 7:32:14 AM
I think im just going to wait until sunday to open it (if it desides to come this weekend). Im gonna go back home so family and friends can be there. And sunday is my birthday so it should be one heck of a birthday present.
9/8/2006 1:56:14 PM
you aren't even going to open it until later - what was the point of this thread..........
9/8/2006 2:02:08 PM
He just wanted to make sure they weren't delivering mail from Utah like this:
9/8/2006 2:04:14 PM
well i was thinking it would be here by yesterday; but if it comes today i wont be able to go home to open bc of work. And I cant come home tomorrow bc of the football game and stuff afterwards. So that leaves sunday, which sounded good to me.And im thinkin that may be the kind of mail they sent it by.
9/8/2006 2:06:18 PM
I can't go home to receive my life-changing, EXTREMELY important letter because State is playing the Zips of Akron.
9/8/2006 4:18:51 PM
i love state athleticswhat can i say
