Ever since I got back to state and got my time warner hooked up again my comp is acting weird when I am browsing online. My homepage was espn.com and now it will rarely load the page all the way. Also, some pages like AOL.com will not load and the browser freezes and I have to close it and open another window. I have also gotten 4 blue screens within the last two weeks. I have xp home and use ie. i have swept the computer with spybot, spy sweeper (which i subscribe to), and symantec and they don't find anything out of the ordinary. I would do a system restore but I am leaving that for a last resort. Overall, I am pretty obsessive with keeping my comp clean so if you have any ideas let me know. Thanks.

symantec can be corrupted and rendered ineffective by viruses. make sure symantec's virus definitions are up to date. If they haven't autoupdated in more than 4 days, you have a virus that's fucked symantec. I'd suggest running AVG free edition in safemode and seeing if that catches anything. If, after running an alternative ant-virus program (and rerunning spybot in safe-mode), you're still having problems then reformat and reinstall is the simplest and surest way to fix it.That being said, it's POSSIBLE that something hardware related is screwy. Since you've mentioned problems specifically with web browsers, I'd tend to assume virus/spyware over hardware issues. Still, it might be worth your while to run a memory test.

if you are obsessive about this you should get a backup program.

I tried everything in safemode including AVG free edition and I am still having problems, any last suggestions before I give up...I don't even have any restore discs from when I bought my laptop.

If it's a thinkpad you don't need restore discs.
