THIS IS KINDA LIKE THE STATE - ECU RIVALRY......MARSHALL HAS THE SAME INFERIORITY COMPLEX THAT ECU HAS PLAYING IN A SHITTY CONFERENCE AND EVERYTHING.....IT SHOULD BE A GOOD GAME THOUGH AND COULD TURN INTO A RIVALRY THAT PARALLELS ALABAMA-AUBURN, OSU-MICHIGAN ONCE BOTH OF THESE TEAMS GET GOOD

Go 'Eers.. In every game except the UConn one. Big East is going to be pretty good this year. A lot of people are picking 2 teams from the Big East for the BCS (UL and WVU)..I'll get bitched at for saying this by the 'ACC is God' crowd but you'll see...[Edited on August 31, 2006 at 11:37 AM. I THINK THE BIG EAST THIS YEAR IS JUST AS GOOD AS THE ACC......UL AND WVU COULD COMPETE WITH MIAMI AND FSU.....AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE MIDDLE OF THE PACK IN THE BIG EAST IS JUST AS GOOD AS THE GEORGIA TECHS AND BC'S OF THE ACC......JUST WATCH RUTGERS BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF CAROLINA IN THE OPENER

ACC has more top teams but the Big East will beat a lot of ACC teams this year.. UConn will beat WFU, Rutgers will beat UNC...of course the year WVU would absolutely MURDER VTech they don't play anymore....

THE FACT IS THEY DO HATE EACH OTHER AND IT LOOKS AS THOUGH THIS IS GOING TO TURN INTO A RIVALRY....RODRIGUEZ WANTS TO PLAY THEM EVERY YEAR......ITS PRETTY MUCH THE ONLY ONE WVU HAS ANYMORE NOW THAT VT SOLD OUT TO THE ACC......PITT IS NOT REALLY MUCH OF A RIVAL

WVU is a good team, no doubt. But to believe that their games against Marshall would ever even come close to being considered in the same category as the Ohio State-Michigan or Alabama-Auburn rivalries is laughable. First OSU, UM, Bama are three of the greatest college football programs ever, each plays in one of the two dominant football conferences (SEC and Big Ten) and their rivalries have history. Both WVU and Marshall have no football histories to speak of, play in worse conferences (not a knock at the Big East), and obviously have relatively no history head to head. Even if Marshall became a consistent top ten team, the game would be important, but never to the levels of Ohio State-Michigan or Bama-Auburn.
