Tv has S-video in, HDMI in, and regular component and RCA in.

My computer has a Radeon 1800xt video card with 2 DVI outputs and a s-video output.

Ati says the following about the card I have

Quote :
"# Flexible display support

* Dual integrated dual-link DVI transmitters
o DVI 1.0 compliant / HDMI interoperable and HDCP ready*
* Dual integrated 10 bit per channel 400 MHz DACs
* 16 bit per channel floating point HDR and 10 bit per channel DVI output "

Is the only thing I need going to be a DVi=>HDMI cable?

Or, am I better off using Svideo/component options?

HDMI > DVI > Component > Composite/s-video
i don't know which is better between composite and s-video except that they both suck

I'd get that and use it as opposed to a S-Video cable. I've tried using both when connecting my laptop to my HDTV.

If viewing videos you've downloaded, the S-Video will probably look OK, but anything else will probably not look that great. Icons and text will probably be a little blurry.

But once you hook up the DVI to the TV, everything is going to look absolutely perfect. Video is excellent, and small text along with everything else will be crisp.

I've actually played some "HD" videos from Apple's movie trailer website from my laptop to the HDTV through the DVI out and it looked AWESOME.

in general, HDMI, DVI and Component are what you really want

if you use RCA or S-Video you probably wont get the quality/clarity you're hoping for

Please kill yourself.

Get a DVI to HDMI adapter and make sure to set your computer resolution to the native resolution of your TV.
