so i've been trying to download torrents recently and my wireless connection keeps dropping and i have to reset the router.i guess i'd like to try to update the firmware. the netgear page for this particular model (CG814WG) says to check the provider's website for software upgrades, but i haven't been able to find anything on time warner's website. does anyone have this router or any info about it or the firmware?

Try power-cycling your boot bus, too. It could be a case of the router's RAMDACs getting corrupted by dirty voltage.

look ma, a comedian!i seriously doubt youre going to be able to update the firmware yourself, maybe you can take it into a service center or something.another option might be to look through the interface, and see if theres a way to make the device a modem only, and disable the router functionality. then hook up a wireless router which im sure will work better for you. or just take the device in and trade it out for a modem, and hook up a wireless router. i assume, like most, that you're paying something extra per month for it anyway, save some money and provide your own router.
