Does anyone know how difficult these courses are? I am looking at HA201, HA202, or HA203. I didnt find much information on School Tool.

It's a fairly enormous amount of regurgitation of title/name/date.If you don't know some basics about the western tradition of art going into it, you're gonna have to work a lot harder. It's not one of those classes where you can go in there expecting an A.201 is always in the Fall, 202 is always in the Spring.[Edited on August 27, 2006 at 4:15 PM. Reason : .]

I took it. It really wasn't too bad, considering I had no previous experience with art (meteorology major). I took Brooks (I believe, too lazy to look at school tool). He seemed to be really into it, too much for my liking. As far as the class goes, it consisted of the professor showing us slides of art for the whole period. Pretty boring, but it's good to pay attention and follow along with the book because whatever pieces of art that were shown in slides AND in the book were the ones you would be tested on. The tests were not bad at all, though it may be difficult to adjust to the first time. There was also a paper you have to do on a piece of art that's at the art museum here, but since you can find the pieces online, you don't have to waste your time going over there. Ended up with a B+ in the class (not too shabby). Also, there was plenty of eye candy, that helped with getting through boring presentations each class.

I wanted to do HA201 b/c it would cover the ancient stuff & I like anything having to do with ancient Greece & Rome. Plus that doesn't seem like the time period that’s going to have the big name artists where they'd expect you to know as much going in. And having the lowest number, it might be an intro type class. Never got around to taking it, but I did have an ancient Greek archaeology course at UNC which covered much the same material and found that worth while.
