I recently moved and am trying to transition my cat to a new environment. The problem is my extremely sweet cat has started having vicious moments. He will randomly, without being touched/looked at/bothered/talked to/etc, attack and bite. Yesterday while looking at clothes in a suitcase he ran up to me, leapt into the air, and clamed down on my leg. There are other cats in his environment but they're not being mixed yet. There are also dogs but he shows no concern to them.Any tips on what to do? These aren't "I'm a pissy cat" kind of bites. These are severe, blood drawing puncture wounds. Please Help!

call your vet and ask whats upfeliaway(sp??) might be an option-- it puts a scent into the air that calms cats down

Swing it around by it's tail 3 full times and the undesired behavior should go away.

maybe they sprayed for bugs before you moved in and he got some in his system and it has caused neurological damage.

i would've grabbed that little shit around the neck and punched him in the face like he was a grown-ass man.but then again, i think cats suck under the best of conditions.

he hasn't been fixed, long wait list at the vet....but he's on that listi'm figuring its the issue with not being nuetered yet and smelling other kittiesas crazy as it sounds, time out in the bathroom calms him down when he's being the spawn of satan

Squirt it in the face with water. If it doesn't make him stop biting you at least you can laugh at it.

you need to treat the problem, not just the "symptoms". spraying it w/ water might get him to stop biting, but it does nothing to fix the stress the cat is under. if he stopped biting that way, he'd just find another outlet (like spraying, scratching, etc).

you just n00bed all over yourself.

^^bad advice all around. Some cats may bite more if they're declawed (have to use teeth to defend instead of front claws)

look up redirected aggressionmy friend's kitties were acting strangely, attacking each other, randomly peeing on the floor or her bed, and she happened to be home one day when a stray cat attacked her window, before that her kitties were just fine, but as soon as it happened one pissed right where she was sitting and ran off the bed, ran into the other kitty, and then started clawing it.it seems to be that they smell or see another unwanted animal and since they can't get to it they take it out on each other. Maybe it is time to introduce the kitties to each other.
