Probably the most expensive police car, aside from the Gallardo in Italy and 911 in Germany. Ha, it is funny the brits have Lexuses as top-end police cars... why not some British car? XJR? XKR? S Type-R? Aston? TVR?BTW, the GS 450h starts at $55,500 in the US, but as you guys should know, cars in the UK typically cost 1.5 times as much as in the US. The starting price there is the equivalent of $72,000, and a fully loaded one costs $89,000 ($63,000 in the US).[The RX 400h, also used by police in the UK, isn't cheap either, starting at $69,000, and running up to $85,000]Hmm, I wonder if they would order a couple of LS 600h's soon, to be used for taking white collar criminals back and forth from police station to court!Don't piss off the police in Wiltshire county... you don't want to be chased by a 340 hp machine that can do 0-60 mph in about 5.2 seconds!Lexus GS 450H Unmarked Police Cars (UK)

8/26/2006 7:59:06 PM
i am sure that the cop driving that car will never have to worry about pullin people over or doing any traffic control shit. probably will be driven by some sort of a high ranking official

Morrisville cops have a unmarked burgandy mustang GT. I did a double take at it pulling some people over. The day cops get smart and start rolling around in champagne colored honda accords will be the day I start riding a scooter.

8/27/2006 11:12:34 AM
No, but trees in decreasing-radius corners and cars driven by elderly people/women pulling out in front of you are reason enough not to do such shit. When the cop eventually catches you, he might have to pick up all your body parts that are all over everywhere.
8/27/2006 11:22:31 AM
get em dan
8/27/2006 12:20:55 PM
at least my body parts wont smell like shit YARRRRRRRRRRRRRR
8/27/2006 3:11:26 PM
while we're on this topic...Is it legal to have police sirens on your car? The other day while stuck in traffic on I-40, a black Chevy SUV with Chromes wanted to cut in in front of me and so he turned on some "whoop whoop" police car sounds. I was like, WTF? black+chrome != police It was unmarked and the driver looked like a fat redneck. I wasn't going to sit there and argue, so I just let him cut. Should have wrote down his license plate#, but I was too puzzled to think about it.
8/27/2006 3:56:52 PM
that would be illigal.
8/27/2006 4:14:06 PM
yes, it would be illegal.
8/27/2006 4:52:40 PM
so they can catch you but they sure as hell can't shoot you.awesome.
8/27/2006 5:17:46 PM
^^^^ a redneck friend of mine in HS had this knightrider style red LED flashy light bar thing on the front of his truck. He said he would turn it on in traffic and ppl would move over, thinking he was FD or something.[Edited on August 27, 2006 at 7:57 PM. Reason : carrot][Edited on August 27, 2006 at 7:57 PM. I think the M5 from the older gumball 3000's with the police stickers and lights was a cool car. Then they switched to the Bently GT.
8/27/2006 8:32:16 PM
how incredibly unnecessary
8/27/2006 11:26:48 PM
sweet, sweet excess
8/28/2006 1:00:59 AM
in randolph county they have bought some dodge charges for patrol cars. I personally think they should buy some vw jettas w/ the diesels so they can sit there and idle all day buy hey what do i know.

Cant outrun the Motorola

Not nearly quite as insane, but I saw a test car pulling into the Highway patrol station a couple weeks ago. The one where you always see the old cruisers for sale across from the fairgrounds. The one I saw was more white and had "TESTER" written on the back. Not a 75,000, but certainly more tax payer dollars at 27,000 and would be interesting to see driving around raleigh.[Edited on November 21, 2006 at 8:01 PM. Reason : cost]

^they have chargers in Charlotte.
11/21/2006 8:13:28 PM
and they had one on display at the state fair
11/21/2006 8:16:17 PM
if they were at the fair...did the state buy any?
11/21/2006 8:25:59 PM
with all the sitting in traffic and shit that many cops do (obviously not State Troopers too much), they could really take advantage of a hybrid
11/21/2006 9:57:08 PM
I heard the first set of chargers geared towards as police interceptors were a v6 varient, but then they decided to use a v8 power plant instead... I forgot where I read that from.

The chargers are on the state contract for law enforcement now. They cost $20,445 if purchased under the contract. The Crown Vics cost $21,200. http://www.doa.state.nc.us/PandC/070b.pdf
