I got a ticket today for going 90 in a 55 on 64 near lake jordan today. I have only had one ticket and that was about 2years ago that was knocked to 9over. I have thought about trying to call the DA's office in Pittsboro to talk to them first or just to go ahead and call a lawyer. Anybody seriously know anything about how to and the likelyhood of getting a ticket like this knocked down? I never used my prayer/plea? for judgement or anything like that. I would really appreciate any kind of advice I can get.

i had a similar ticket knocked down from 6 points to 3. defenitely get a lawyer.
8/26/2006 8:19:19 PM
i cant believe you didnt get a free ride in the back of a police car for that one
8/26/2006 9:01:02 PM
Seriously you're lucky you didn't get arrested. You got off easy! You WILL need a lawyer fir that one.
8/26/2006 9:43:19 PM
Get a lawyer. That's almost 40 over and that's mandatory jailtime in NC if they don't reduce it. Get a lawyer.
8/26/2006 9:51:45 PM
surprised they didnt slap you with reckless endagerment
8/26/2006 10:05:38 PM
^^^^^^^i've had much worse tickets and not taken a ride. generally, as long as you're just ridiculously speeding and nothing else they'll let you go (though technically anything 20 over or over 85mph they can take your license/arrest you on the spot i think?)
8/26/2006 10:15:15 PM
its 15 now[Edited on August 26, 2006 at 10:17 PM. Reason : 100 is a felony]
8/26/2006 10:17:36 PM
hey not getting arrested for that ticket doesnt surprise me at all, honestly they might only arrest you for 40 over if the posted limit was 70.you wont be able to call anyone in the da's office to talk to them about the weather, let alone how to handle the ticket. why should they help you? now retaining a lawyer is the best thing you can do.and i seriously know a great deal about this stuff, my driving record is like 14 pages, for real. i hadnt even had my liscense two months when i got my first suspension, for 74 in a 35. i was clocked at 79. it was all downhill from there, of the many times i have been pulled over i have 10 speeding tickets i can think of off the top of my head and that includes a 91 in a 55 and 80 something in a 55 workzone, and a pair of 70 in a 55's. 6 tickets were in 6 months a while back and thats when got hardcore with the lawyer stuff and it is the way to go for the high speed stuff. i actually had two court dates in the last 10 days and got 3 charges dismissed, one was for DWLR and it wouldnt have happened without a lawyer.

you must be so proudcongratulations
8/26/2006 10:23:42 PM
im not proud, i am giving the guy advice on something i have plenty of experience on. if he wanted some kind of shitty audio install in his nissan sentra i would expect you to post.

oh wait i got you confused with jcatstate or jacstate or whatever. either way shut the fuck up.

^ ever thought about not driving like a jackass, and getting a radar detector?
8/26/2006 10:36:50 PM
i havent gotten a speeding ticket in almost 3 years. i purchased my first radar detector two weeks ago.

Another question - My girl just got a ticket in Garner for going 69 in a 55. I'm debating telling her to get a lawyer and was wondering if it's worth it. The interesting part about it is that the cop said she was doing this at 12:10am but it was just after noon so I'm wondering if it would be easy enough to get this thrown out without a lawyer as I doubt the cop was working at the time he wrote the ticket for.

I'd call Chadwick Lee. He may know someone that can help you out. He works out of Johnston county, but has partners in other counties that are just as good as him. I got busted doin' 106 in a 60 and Lee cleared me up with a PJC. (I was arrested on the spot I didn't even get a "hello" or "May I see your license..." It was a "get out the car now sir and put your hands behind your back." ) (my insurance doesn't know a thing about it ) Nor do I have any traffic points. 919-934-7594. He's the man. Helped me out twice and I still have no points... (both times were before I got my V1 ) Definately give him a call. He'll help you.
8/26/2006 11:33:21 PM
your $400 radar detector isn't going to save you doing double the limit on a country ass backroad
8/27/2006 2:20:01 AM
ive been speeding for 10 years most of the time 15 over in the city and usually 20-30 over on highways. looking far down and being aware of the cars around you and paying attention on usual unmarked suspects will will cut you third the tickets. getting a radar detecter will take care of the 2nd third of the ticekts. being courteous and not lying will take care of the last thirds. i got 6 warnings tickets just because i do the shit they like...both hands on steering wheel, dome light, apology and you are good to go with 50% of the cops.[Edited on August 27, 2006 at 2:34 AM. 8/27/2006 2:32:56 AM
^^and you'd be right, especially since there wasn't any traffic around for the detector to help warn me (if I had one then...) I know have learned my lesson about speeding like that. It was stupid and pointless. It was a dumb bet that I could make it from my house in Raleigh to my friend's house in Erwin in 30 minutes. Woulda done it too, I was 2 miles away from my exit and 7 minutes ahead of schedual when i got pulled. Lost the bet by over 3 hours ^ You sir are correct. I don't know what you all do when you guys go driving. But I'm always observing the traffic around me (sometimes making a game out of looking for a cop). I always know who's behind me, beside me... Speeding or not, you should pay attention of your surroundings when you drive (more so if you are speeding). If more fuckin people did, I'll bet we'd cut accident rates in America by like 800% [Edited on August 27, 2006 at 2:48 AM. Reason : .]

calling the DA's office might work on the 69 in a 55 ticket. I got pulled for 70 in a 55 my freshman year on the way to the beach in Beaufort. My court date ended up being in June so it was when I was home for the summer. I called the DA and told her it was going to be a hardship for me to come to court for the ticket since it was like an 8 hour drive and I would have to spend the night and all this, and asked if she could please take care of it over the phone. She dropped it to 9 over and I mailed a check.

You have to get a lawyerç
8/27/2006 9:55:59 AM
damn son that sucks, i got a 51 in a 25 (at the time of my ticket it was during school zone times outside my old high school) so i definately know how that shit feels. anyways in my experience between me and some of my lead footed friends, a laywer can be useful but very expensive. when i received my little present from the undercover ass monkey i did a prayer for judgement and was able to avoid it being recorded on my license and insurance. the only catch is for three years if you get any ticket of any degree both of the citations will count, so just keep that in mind buddy.

^Die.The attorneys you get from prepaid legal are some of the sorriest dumbasses in the legal profession. Any decent lawyer does not have to cut his rates and use prepaid legal to get business.

90 in a 55 is better than the 100 in a 55 that i got.
8/27/2006 10:37:10 PM
I had an 89 in a 55 and I got pegged with reckless driving. Ended up getting the reckless dropped completely and got the ticket reduced to 70 in a 55. I got a hit on my insurance, but it could have been a lot worse.
8/27/2006 11:15:59 PM
the cop kept you on the side of the road for 3 hours?
8/27/2006 11:25:46 PM
I got an 83 in a 55 dropped for improper equipment a couple months ago, but it was in Watuaga (sp?) county. Call different lawyers and see who can give you the best deal.

That would be Chatham County.

^ I'd have to agree w/ you...if you're in a suburban or SUV you're cruisin at 90...but on a bike you can get to 90 in a heartbeat w/ a flic of your wrist...either way...your fuckin yourself or some one else up if you screw up
8/28/2006 8:31:54 PM
^at the same time, i'd rather be going 90 with 4000lbs surrounding me.
8/28/2006 8:55:11 PM
I'm sure you say that because of safety right? Cause I'm sure all that momentum will feel REAL safe when you can't brake for shit, start sliding, rolling, however dramatic way you want to do it... WATCH OUT FELLAS, I'M COMIN THRU!!!! [Edited on August 28, 2006 at 10:55 PM. Reason : .]
