I know there were problems last semester, but is there any hope for more speed in the future? My roomate says he gets a faster connection with cable at home.Downloading demos on my 360 takes forever.

it's all the @#$%ing p2p... I had excellent speeds all summer, then Friday got here and everything slows to a crawl...

^Same thing with me, it is especially noticeable with online gaming. I used to play with little or no lag whatsoever and ever since people started moving in it has gone at a snail's pace.

Shoot the inconsiderate jackasses running 20 torrents and downloading gigs of porn maybe?

Vintage ResNet is still superior. I lived in the dorms 01/02 year and it was blazing back then. P2P hadn't caught on as much, speeds were not capped, Win XP wasn't as prevelant making Windows File Sharing easier to get off of others (no system passwords and shared media files). There was one site that let you just search the shared files of people on NCREN and it was really quick.

^ I remember those days. I remember saying, "Why would I want to use Napster to some other filesharinig program? Everything I'd every want is right here on the local dorm network."
8/24/2006 10:34:51 AM
I remember I uploaded files at 15-17MB/sec bridging 2 100mbps together.Ahh the good ol' days.

Pretty cool considering you people (and me) are on RR w/ a 5meg cap.How about all the RESNET folks.... That is pretty interesting from a LAN perspective... hell.. we are capped at 5M d/l on RR.

^^ If you read the thread, you'd know that the lag issue was a relatively new thing and not a problem in all locations. RESNet bandwidth and latency was basically godly a while back. Now it's just very good.[Edited on August 25, 2006 at 10:18 AM. Reason : ]
