Has anyone ever heard of this career and/or know someone who is a "Life Coach"? I recently saw it as one of the top new careers out there, but I haven't really heard anything about it until now. Here's a little more info for those who don't know what the hell I'm talking about.http://www.fabjob.com/LifeCoach.aspIt sounds like it could be interesting... Any thoughts?

scares the shit out of me that people really need this kind of service.this is basically advocating Psychology without the degree. If you need "help" with your "problems" at least go see someone with SOME educational background.[Edited on August 22, 2006 at 12:10 AM. Reason : .]

Depends on what type of value you put in the person's background. Personally, I would look at if the person has been successful. I can personally attest to people like Jeffery Combs making a big difference in people's lives. http://goldenmastermind.com/gms_home.asp

^^^All that money would have been much better spent on a REAL counselor who can help you instill SELF-CONFIDENCE, not dependency on the assurance of your life coach. These people are, by and large, frauds who seek out weak people they can suck money out of. It's really sad and almost pseudo-religious.

i already have a Life Coachi call him "Dad"

yea, penn and teller did an episode on life coaching. Most life coaches are bullshit. They just make their clients feel dependant on them so that they get to keep making $$ with little to no work.

^ That's kind of a hasty generalization. I'm just saying that there are ones out there that are very good at helping people succeed in whatever it is that they define as success.

that's b/c there are more and more of you that lack the basic motivation to do anything.... normally you would just become a listless bum begging for change on the side of the street, instead you are propgating the growth of this unholy symbiosis of someone with skills/ability and no motivation with someone with motivation but no skills/ability (aside from talking coherently)
