i just bought new speakerwire for my surround sound. it isnt labeled as pos/neg. is the wire with the white line down the length of it negative???

There's no difference between the two wires. Use the line to match the positive on your receiver to the positive on your speakers.

if you really wanna be anal about it, wrap the ends near the tip with red or black electrical tape.



or just do what spooky said.

The line is just to help you match up. It can be negative or positive.

I have some Audio Acoustics wire that is plain white with writing on each wire. you have to look really close find any difference. One wire has a + sign every few inches. pain the arse

Meh, lamp cord works pretty good for most speaker runs and is pretty easy to distinguish wires. It's also cheap as hell.

nothing with copper stranded wires is cheap as hell

the price of copper has skyrocketed in 10 years.

I used to just use phone cable. Worked fine.

You should get some Transparent speaker wires. They are nice.

Transparent is audiophile grade speaker cable. Doesnt really sound like you need that but if anyone else out there is looking for some really good cables check them out. I have a set and they are amazing. Here is their website http://www.transparentcable.com/index2.html
