if your site has 4 addresses, say:http://www.brentroad.combrentroad.comhttp://www.thewolfweb.comthewolfweb.comthen, when you send a user a cookie, you send two cookies for the root addresses, so they apply to the "www." variant, and the variant the user isn't usingthat way, there isn't a 75% chance that a link someone posts will lose your authentication

the mods would rather go around bitching at people because they arent linking properly.it kinda gives them a sense of superiority.

gunzz made a valid thread on this to alleviate the problem - people just ignored it

yeah, I know you can link differently to make it work, but people want to just copy shit out of their address bar and paste it into the link inputbox, and it should honestly just work, this is pretty basic usuability stuff that isn't very hard to implement

you can copy the whole address bar into a text box in less than a second without knowing what it contains or how long it is, by leaving the mouse to the right and below the end of the text in your target inputbox: Alt-D, Ctrl-C, single left click, Ctrl-V; whereas grabbing a substring requires either waiting for the cursor to arrow over at the rate of ~125ms/character, or moving the mouse twice, delimiting the substring you intend to copy, and returning to the text box you intend to paste intoso no, I hate to put the brakes on your feature request trolling bandwagon, but having the portable portion of the URL exist as a substring of the browser URL is not in any way equivalent to having the URL properly formatted.

If we had a quote button that automatically included the entire post, hardly anyone would bother trimming the text down to the relevant portion they actually wanted to quote. The average post size would go up, threads would turn into fucking scrolling fests, we'd get our threads "archived" more often, and things would just be shittier in general.

obligatory quotebomb

^^Wouldn't that comment have made more of an impact in the "can we get a fucking quote button already?" thread?

maybe it was a mistake

maybe I was pointing out the obvious mistake.
