So the reptile show is coming up again soon (sept 2, 3). Who is going this year besides the usual lot and what are you getting? anybody vending again this year?
8/17/2006 9:19:22 PM
believe it or not, i might not get to go cuz of work.
8/18/2006 2:10:28 AM
I would have had a crap load of frogs to sell, but i accidentally killed off around 30 tadpoles in may and only have froglets and tadpoles now that are too young. stupid silicone not curing right pisses me off.
8/18/2006 2:28:10 AM
shit that soon? i gotta start planning.i have a classroom to fill now:i want a snake (ball python or blood ball python)a NICE male bearded dragon (willing to spend $$) my 2 females need a lovera decent female leopard gecko (tangerine or carrot tail)if a decent price and temperment - 2 sugar glider joeys (i may end up going thru a breeder though)maybe some degus or other small animala pair of ratsmaybe a hairless guinea pig or rat (to freak the rest of the school out)hmmm.... this is gonna take some thought and a chaperone
8/18/2006 6:52:22 AM
im lookin for some pinesLeucistic or patternlessthey're hard to find thoughAlso need a female arizona mtn king
8/18/2006 8:11:15 PM
Blue tongued Skink maybe. But I have an extra dog right now. Anyone want a beagle?
8/18/2006 10:14:41 PM
maybe an eastern hognosejust have to find lots of toads.... hmmm....
8/18/2006 11:07:52 PM
^^^ they can't sell pines at the show (although i'm sure if you asked enough vendors you'd find one with one stashed under the table)^ eastern and southern hogs are also forbidden, but westerns abound and take to eating mice much more easily than easterns (it was a pain getting my eastern to switch and took several months and a freezer full of toads)
8/18/2006 11:45:41 PM
i saw a bunch of easterns there at the spring show.shrugoh and anyone have the website? [Edited on August 19, 2006 at 9:17 AM. Reason : d]

http://www.gilaproductions.com/ral/ralmain.htmli actually got an email from some random dude trying to boycott the show. i dont know how the fuck he got my email address. i dont know what others think, but i believe alex russell has been doing a better job with organizing the show than tony cueto ever did. granted alex has only organized the past 2 shows, this guy is calling for a boycott just because a few bad apple vendors put out sickly animals, even though there are plenty of vendors with animals in great health. i just found it kinda offensive, they're trying to get the shows in NC shut down altogether, including the charlotte show that is planned for this coming spring. it pisses me off that one guy can somehow steal a bunch of peoples' email addresses to turn around and try to steal money out of the pockets of not only the event organizer, but all the vendors who have to pay good money to try to sell their animals. 8/19/2006 12:24:03 PM
i'm debating on attending. there are almost no arachnids available (except rose hair tarantulas and emperor scorpions), and i don't want to sink the money into another reptile set-up.mj and i may go just to look, but i don't really expect to go home with anything.

8/22/2006 12:19:00 AM
picked up a bunch of tanks at the PETCO sale this week so i might have to actually buy something besides the 1 male pygmy leaf chameleon. guess i'll have to see which darts go in which tanks
8/26/2006 10:33:03 PM
turns out i might not be getting a paycheck till after the show damn state. my bearded dragon needs a boyfriend
8/27/2006 2:59:57 PM
i'll be there but don't know if i'll get anything this time i guess i'll just have to see what i can't pass up.
8/27/2006 3:35:46 PM
anyone wanna pick up a veiled for me?maybe keep him for a week while im on vacation?
8/27/2006 4:42:45 PM
matt, did you get all males last time or what? i cant remember, but i thought you got all the same sex.im still interested in those lil guys, just wish i had the friggin space!
8/27/2006 9:21:55 PM
^ all females, and actually 2 of them died within a week, but the third female is doing great after i gave her a round of meds to make sure she didn't follow the other 2.
8/27/2006 10:08:57 PM
kinda randombut if anyone gets anything in a trade or decides they dont want it after the show i'll be taking donations to my classroom. my students really want more pets and i can't afford to buy them and the setups at this point on my fantastic teaching salary.i do have some leopard gecko eggs incubating right now. due in about 2 weeks. trying to incubate for females but we'll see.. they're blizzard x albino. so i could trade them.[Edited on August 27, 2006 at 10:16 PM. ^you dont take handicaps/deformities, do you? i have a crested gecko that was born kinda retarded, missing one front leg and the other is a club foot kinda....anyway, it still eats crickets fine, is a year old, kinda runty, but healthy.
8/28/2006 1:12:28 AM
yea i'd take iti havent kept crested geckos but i'll read up on em.as long as it eats let me see if i can find a tank around. i'm assuming it couldn't live with my leopards .. well unless i made the habitat arboreal too....
8/28/2006 9:10:10 AM
surprised ive overlooked this thread this time around i have 4 oketee corns that i could be moving, although unless they eat tomorrow, im going to keep them....ive got what i think is 1 male, 1 female albino leopard geckos...eating very well1 adult normal/high yellow leopard gecko femalemore than likely, a pair of Arizona Mtn Kingsum, maybe some more random ish....hopefully im not buying much (its useless to say im not buying anything lol)...i got stuff picked up for me in Daytona this year Ill be at the booth with WestEx Herps and probably bouncing over to help out with the NC Herp Society and NCPARC

will they sell the VIP tickets the day of at the counter???anybody know?ANDi need suggestions. i have a VERY LARGE TANK. it was my iguanas before he outgrew itits 4ft long and 2.5ft wide and 2.5ft tall.I don't know what to put in it. i already have plenty big enough tanks for my beardies and my uromastyx.whatever it is it has to have a good temperment. can be tamed and handled.contemplating a pair of egyptian uros. maybe a few chuckwallas, leopard lizards, collards, or zebra tails...i can't have a snake. too many students are afraid.not fond of monitors or tegus.
9/1/2006 9:50:48 AM
^im pretty sure they do not sell vip tix the day of.
9/1/2006 11:42:57 AM
^^ you can turn it into a large vivarium and put some darts or mantellas in it a mixed pygmy leaf chameleon and mantella vivarium would probably do well (even though pygmy leaf chameleons sold at the show are from mainland africa and not madagascar)
9/1/2006 2:16:10 PM
i sure hope they have knoblochi im buying every female that i can find
9/1/2006 3:44:08 PM
i am going. i bought a breaded dragon last year. This year i think i will just look, but a ferret would be cool to have. If anything i need a new heat lamp and some crickets
9/1/2006 4:28:43 PM
yea i ordered a 1000 crickets thurs not thinking that armstrong will be there and i can get them for half price... doh.i'm definitely getting a hairless guinea pig and a male bearded dragon (hypo pastel or snow)
9/1/2006 4:59:46 PM
gawd im anxoius lol
9/1/2006 5:27:22 PM
anyone got an extra vip ticket for saturday? pm mekk thx
9/1/2006 6:01:35 PM
i really want to go and at least look.... *whine*so far the only arachnid carrier i've identified asks way too much for their animals.
9/1/2006 6:06:10 PM
bought the VIP tickets online. the harder part will be draggin the bf outta bed to be there by 9. gosh i'm such a dork
9/1/2006 6:22:51 PM
If anyone needs a red tail boa, there's one at Avian and Exotic that needs a home. His name is Slinky.
9/1/2006 8:27:46 PM
I'm not really big into reptiles... I had a leopard gecko once that was awesome! Anyways thought I would share this info. SPCA has the following reptiles for adoptionA red tail boa named "Slinky" also... same one?http://www.spcawake.org/pet_search.htmlhttp://www.spcawake.org/pet_search.htmlhttp://www.spcawake.org/pet_search.html[b]

i got:a hairless hamster creepy but cool.NICE proven adult hypo pastel male bearded dragon from Georgia Bearded Dragons. he should get the job done. a siberian chipmunk. random but its pretty friendly. just gotta do my research and set her up a nice home. she's in a bird cage right now. it was a pretty good show. not as many small animals as i hoped for but the reptile selection was fantastic - would have liked to see more geckos. couldnt find a decent female albino leopard. tons of uromastyx (even 3 captive bred ornates for good price). not as many chameleons as last show.
9/2/2006 12:42:54 PM
I want a ball python....
9/2/2006 12:49:24 PM
^^ I got a male and female sunset from Georgia Beardeds too. They had some beautiful adults I wish I could have afforded.
9/2/2006 1:04:34 PM
^^^Oh man I wanna see the chipmunk.
9/2/2006 2:00:36 PM
there's hairless hamsters?! oh my. and a chipmunk?? sweet.
9/2/2006 2:04:55 PM
^^^ yea i've had one of my beardies for 5 yrs. she's just a norm. then 1.5 yrs ago i bought a beautiful young hypo pastel female from Georgia Bearded Dragons to keep my first one company. she's incredible looking. she didnt look like much at the show but after i got her home and she settled in and shedded once her colors really developed. they only had 2 or 3 adults. i bought their only adult male. he was $300 which is alot to spend on one animal but he's got a nice buttery yellow and orange color and was trying to mate with the female he was in with at the show so i know he'll be a good breeder. cross your fingers they get along and i get some good clutches. i should be able to get a good price for the babies.here let me track down my camera and i'll take pictures of em all
9/2/2006 3:16:54 PM
the chipmunk is sleeping in her nestbox and i don't want to disturb her so here's a pic from the internet.here the hairless hamster. and the new dragon. the pictures dont do him justice. and dont worry he's only in the little tank for 2 days. i'm going to introduce him to the females after i've handled him some and gotten him used to me.
9/2/2006 3:55:59 PM
i have officially cornered the market on knoblochi currently 3 males, 6 females....now i just gotta find a pair of AZ mtn kings and try not to spend money on thayeri
9/2/2006 5:40:31 PM
didn't buy any animals, although i had parking lot trades set up for some darts. traded a few froglets for some male pumilio. only bought some bromeliads and tillandsia. and a nice stump to make the 35hex i got at the petco sale last week (hell yeah, can't beat getting a 35hex for 35 bucks) a nice 360 degree viewable tank
9/2/2006 8:38:58 PM
I love beardies, they have such great personalities.
