Michigan again in the ACC>Big Ten Challengei hope we play Houston and/or UCLA sometime in the next couple seasons now that Sid and Monte are kickin it
8/17/2006 4:53:05 PM
who are supposed to be our key players besides Atsur
8/17/2006 5:00:14 PM
frankly im not sure who we'll count on this year...but im kinda excited to just see whoever we have out there just play and not give a shit about expectations because i think they'll be pretty low this year, and im not saying that because i dont think sidney will do anything, but first year under new coach...pretty good schedule...and not a lot of "star" returning talent...
8/17/2006 5:03:09 PM
i'm guessing Grant will be a big playmaker...Fells as well
8/17/2006 5:04:02 PM
i hope Grant can gain some scoring consistancy
8/17/2006 5:05:07 PM
8/17/2006 5:06:08 PM
i am so fucking glad Herb is gone[Edited on August 17, 2006 at 5:08 PM. Reason : now he can curse another program into decades of mediocrity]
8/17/2006 5:08:00 PM
I'm surprised that we don't have that typical out of conference game in the middle of our ACC schedule like we normally do (i.e. Seton Hall embarrassment last year). OOC schedule looks pretty good IMO. I like the WVU game even though we'll probably lose.
8/17/2006 5:19:42 PM
i like them all except for michigan since we played them recently but cant do anything about that...the big 10 challenge is based on how the teams finish i believe so...but its better than its been for a long time...i just hope we can compete in some of these games...
8/17/2006 5:24:40 PM
^^yeah it'll be fun to watch our new style of offense play again our old style of offense
8/17/2006 5:28:21 PM
ESPNU up the ass this year
8/17/2006 5:30:01 PM
i think when courtney fells gets a little gametime under his belt he'll be really good, based on what we saw of him last season. grant can be good in a real offense, as well, provided he doesn't turn out to be too much of an AI type.
8/17/2006 5:58:11 PM
my concerns are inside...if theres no brackman...that leaves the n00b freshmen from overseas and mccauley...
8/17/2006 5:59:09 PM
i'm ready to see how costner is going to develope
8/17/2006 5:59:58 PM
Was Costner given a medical redshirt?
8/17/2006 7:38:33 PM
yeshttp://www.gopack.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=41962&SPID=3731&DB_OEM_ID=9200&ATCLID=517759&Q_SEASON=2006

8/17/2006 7:51:00 PM
8/17/2006 7:57:03 PM
which one will be held in reynolds this year?
8/17/2006 7:59:46 PM
i'm guessing mt. saint mary's will be at reynolds
8/17/2006 8:03:09 PM
8/17/2006 9:09:56 PM
Costner redshirted las season
8/17/2006 9:10:12 PM
8/17/2006 9:20:04 PM
Why aren't we finishing the year with Wake Forest???
8/17/2006 9:23:57 PM
We want to give our nuts time to heal before the ACC Tournament
8/17/2006 9:26:42 PM
^lawls
8/17/2006 11:15:52 PM
wonder why we are not playing UNCA this yeari was also wondering about the Reynolds game
8/17/2006 11:52:10 PM
sweet we finally get UNC first this year. i mean it probably won't matter, but it seemed like they always got the first game since i've been here.
8/18/2006 12:02:13 AM
I wish we had a better opponet for the reynolds game. Hell I wish the first games against the nobody teams were all in Reynolds.

^and we'll still find a way to lose in the sweet sixteen to a 12 seed.
8/18/2006 8:46:46 AM
[The OOC looks significantly weaker then last years to me..WVU is a bottom quarter team in the Big East this year, Bama is going to suck, Michigan should be decent, Cincy is likely a borderline NIT team..There is a very real possibility we will face only ONE NCAA team OOC this year..]Bama is a top 10 team. Ronald Steele is probably 1st team all american and the best point guard in college basketball. They return their entire team from last year and have a solid freshman class. Glad you did your research.
8/18/2006 9:02:07 AM
Top 10? They lose Chuck Davis, add a decent class, and suddenly a team that snuck into the tournament last year becomes top 10?
8/18/2006 9:15:58 AM
freakin' sweet! We play WVU @ WVU, I know for sure I'll be at that one! WOO!anyone need a place to crash in WV for this game?
8/18/2006 9:29:53 AM
8/18/2006 9:32:45 AM
i dont like the scheduleand why the hell dont we get another shot at Duke during the regular season. this is bananas.
8/18/2006 9:55:22 AM
^so if we manage to beat them we can brag about a sweep all year
8/18/2006 10:00:06 AM
I like our OOC schedule@ West Virginia@ CincinnatiMichiganAlabama
8/18/2006 10:00:24 AM
Wow people are actually getting excited about basketball....Im afraid you are going to be disappointed.
8/18/2006 10:01:15 AM
^ Fresh start man. They only come around so often.Besides, it's a sign regarding how good our football team is. We've finally joined UNC, Duke, and Wake in their sports outlook.
8/18/2006 10:03:03 AM
the good thing about basketball is that when football fails us we can put all our hopes and dreams into it
8/18/2006 10:05:34 AM
i get excited about football and basketball regardless
8/18/2006 10:06:55 AM

There was an internet article posted recently saying TWC was close to deals with ESPN and they would have both ESPN2HD and ESPNU within 60 days. I have a feeling there is little truth to it, but FWIW.Anyone notice that we only have ONE Sunday Night Hoops game? Most years all teams have multiple appearances...maybe its not that big a deal, but it is a national broadcast. Kinda surprised we were forgotten about like that, regardless of the outlook of our season.

N&O's take on the ACC basketball schedule:http://www.newsobserver.com/752/story/476448.html
8/18/2006 12:52:56 PM
8/18/2006 12:58:07 PM
^It's one of those schedules that looks good in terms of name recognition. Michigan and Cincinnati are known for their pasts in basketball, and 'bama and WVU are still fresh in people's minds from the last couple of seasons. But yeah, all of them should be pretty weak this year...
8/18/2006 12:59:36 PM
I was reading that Hans-Douche has been working on a 15 foot jumper and has really been impressing all the coaches and players with his improvement over last year. That is seriously bad news for us - if he can reasonably step out and make a 10-15 foot shot, then he'll be at 25+ PPG assuming UNC still feeds him the ball everytime.
