bring 6' medium action spinning rods with 20# test on thembring chicken livers and some cricketsfish the crickets for bream so you can catch them and cut them up for baitthen use the chicken livers nad cut bait for large catfishfish the catfish rigs "carolina rigged" sliding round weight (1/4-3/8-1/2oz depending on current)on main line then a swivel with a piece of 16" leader (25# test or so) and a 2/0 circle hook and let it drift down river try to fish the deep holes, downstream from fallen trees, and where the river bends (past the bend where the water slows) they like to hang out in those spots and wait for bait to swim bybring a net or else you won't land a larger catfishdon't let the fish fight too long or too deep or else he will break off[Edited on August 17, 2006 at 4:14 PM. 20 is not overkill. 30 lb'ers aren't uncommon

we use to canoe up there every year

not overkill on flatheads at allwhich are pretty common when fishing with bream

you can also use bream whole and live.....hook 'em behind at the base of the tail....you'll catch big blues and channels. it eliminates having to worry about the smaller ones......but if you're planning on eating them, I prefer the smaller ones <7-8 lbs.

Use LIVE bait, and throw it in something that looks like you will get hung up in. But if you do this make sure you have the proper tackle = line, hook size, etc..
