my kitten has a weird red raised bump on his belly, he's 5 months and is being treating for fleas as we speak, is it because of the fleas? i just found one (bump that is).

it's aids.
8/17/2006 10:36:39 AM
how big and where?
8/17/2006 10:36:56 AM
a little big bigger than one of his nipples, on the right side of his belly

Sounds like a flea or some sort of other bug bite to me, should be ok. I'd keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't dissapear in a few days, then I'd worry about it.

also is there anyway possible to discipline a cat when he's bad? he's been raised by dogs so he's a fiesty one.
8/17/2006 10:54:35 AM
spray bottle. squirt him when he's doing siomething bad

Feline skin heals more quickly than they can actually fight possible infection sometimes. He'll heal on his own....or die.
8/17/2006 11:04:42 AM
it's aids, I'm telling you.
8/17/2006 11:05:09 AM
yeah i do the spray bottle thing s/times, i guess i'll have to do it more of the timeand i was reading online and i think the spot may be what they call a 'hot spot' , if it gets serious or i notice more ill take him to the vet
8/17/2006 11:06:29 AM
A lot of times, hot spots are raw areas as well. That's a good indicator. Because a hot spot is like a congregation area of fleas where they do flea things--i.e. bite.

so i spotted like 3 or 4 on his underside starting near the top of his chest and along is sides towards the bottom of his chest, they look like little raised pimples, one had a black crust around it that i was able to wipe away, i put some neosporin on them and i have some anti-itch hot spot spray even though it never looks likes he's really itching those spots, mostly around his neck and biting fleas of his arms and legs and stuffpoor kitty, i get payed in 2 weeks so ill probably take him to the vet then but if anyone as ideas or concerns and thinks i need to take him to the vet earlier, i can def work up the money, google is not sufficiently helping me
8/17/2006 12:02:21 PM
Nah, I think he'll be fine. What are you using to treat the fleas with?
8/17/2006 12:04:27 PM
PurrScriptions Plus by Sergeants brand, http://www.sergeants.comthe house he's living in now is just infested, no matter how many baths we give the dogs and him they wont go away, including the many times we've bombed the houseim moving into a new place sept 1st and plan on getting rid of them before i take him there so hopefully there will be no moreill probably get frontline too cuz' apparently ive been told thats the only stuff that really works
8/17/2006 12:12:59 PM
it's a nipple
8/17/2006 12:18:26 PM
aids
8/17/2006 12:22:35 PM
Be sure to give him a bath before you apply the frontline or whatever treatment you pick and BEFORE you take him to the new house because they'll jump off into your new house and infest that too. I'm sure you know that already, but just wanted to throw that out there.
8/17/2006 12:35:50 PM
'his' nipples? what the hell...
8/17/2006 3:39:33 PM

i may have an xtra thing of frontline. if not, 1800PETMEDS is cheap, you just have to get a 3 month supply.also it's a bitch to get rid of them. we're having the same problem. you'll have to vacuum like hell plus make sure those that are vacuumed and the eggs are disposed of. we bought frontline and havent seen many any more, plus powder for the carpet. we also bought a spray but havent had a chance to use it. make sure you get them all otherwise it will turn into an all out ordeal.[Edited on August 18, 2006 at 6:51 PM. cat lives with my boyfriend now, its an old place that the landlord doesnt take care of, just cheap and close to campus and not that badim gonna order some frontline and ive also been told that boric acid (even though is chemical harsh on your yard) kills all mosquitos and fleas and ants too. and just in case you didnt know, if you vacuum all the fleas and the eggs up they stay in the vacuum bag and continue to breed there, i would change the bag
8/19/2006 1:01:40 AM
yeah borax is supposed to work really well
8/19/2006 10:07:34 AM
1. please do not put any more neosporin on your kitten. It is not good for them. I cant remember which one of the 3 is not good for animals, but you should only put polysporin on animals (it has 2 antibiotics, not 3).2. Fleas could very well be causing this rash you are talking about. If it continues once your house is flea free then a trip to the vet is in order. If you already have one scheduled then discuss it then.
