Favre could announce his retirement within the next hour. Just heard this on The herd.
8/16/2006 11:46:51 AM
i hope he does
8/16/2006 11:47:38 AM
what an asshole for waiting this long...three weeks before the regular season starts, and after saying he looks forward to playing with the most talented GB team he has ever been a part of.Favre fucked GB over. [Edited on August 16, 2006 at 11:49 AM. Reason : ..]
8/16/2006 11:49:10 AM
maybe after the first game he realized that he's not really gonna be able to help this team like he thought he would be able to and the best thing for the packers is to let rodgers take over and get experience for the future.
8/16/2006 11:52:44 AM
OMGWTFBBQz!Man I'm glad I haven't had my drafts yet. Not that I was gonna pick Favre anyways.[Edited on August 16, 2006 at 11:54 AM. Reason : ]
8/16/2006 11:53:49 AM
yeah i think rodgers would be every bit as effective as favre at this point, if not moreso.favre is one of the best ever, but he's just past his prime now.
8/16/2006 11:55:24 AM
Even if he thinks he can't compete, why not wait until week two or three and make sure he's not just getting down on himself prematurely? That's what Brett Hull did.
8/16/2006 11:55:50 AM
ESPNews doesn't have anything about it on their bottomline
8/16/2006 11:55:59 AM
note from my fantasy football page on cbs sportsline:
8/16/2006 11:57:09 AM
favre became a real douche in his later playing years, icing on the cake if he retires now.
8/16/2006 11:57:14 AM
Favre used to be one of my favorite players but the shit with Javon Walker really changed my opinion of him. I know it would be wrong since he has been there so long, but Green Bay should say fuck off and just leave already and go with Rodgers.
8/16/2006 12:02:19 PM
He's not announcing his retirement today. It's a planned press conference that's in Green Bays media guide.
8/16/2006 12:06:56 PM
"I am calling this important press conference today...to let all the people of Green Bay and the rest of the nation...the fans...the coaches...my teammates, past and present....that I have had a wonderful experience during my career in the NFL...however today I must announce...that I will indeed be playing football this season for the Green Bay Packers."

he's not retiringhe'll be back next year too
8/16/2006 1:34:34 PM
GO FAVRE, GO!
8/16/2006 1:49:16 PM
BearWhoDrive has this complex where every time Brett Favre is mentioned he has to talk about how close he is to breaking the all time INT record, while ignoring just how close he is to breaking the all time TD record.
8/16/2006 1:51:17 PM
8/16/2006 1:53:19 PM
Explain to me again how he's selfish.
8/16/2006 1:54:00 PM
vick or favre, who'd you rather have right now?
8/16/2006 1:56:42 PM
well, he's stated that he's not helping rodgers develop, calls out javon walkerkilling his team b/c he sux but can't let go.....he knows they won't drop him, and he won't retire.

I think its bullshit that Favre (who is grossly overpaid at like $12 million probably) calls out Javon Walker who was a PRO BOWL WR(!!!) and was under contract for $600K.Walker reports and tears his ACL and boom, his big contract day is gone.Favre was being a bitch in that situation, you cant say he wasnt....And Vick is clearly better than Favre at this point in their careers, no one would argue that.Favre is still one of the top 20 QB's in the game though, no doubt. And since that division sucks dogsac, i can see him giving it one last go...The NFC is stacked this year though and theres no way GB can make the playoffs realistically.Car and Sea are loaded. Dallas is gonna be really good. Then Wash, Tampa, and NYG, Chi are all good teams. New Orleans, Atl, and Arizona are potentially dangerous. I'd consider Philly and the Vikes "bad" teams but they could still go like 7-9...

Brady was telling the media about his conversations directly with branchFavre went through the media to bash walker.big diff.[Edited on August 16, 2006 at 2:59 PM. Reason : not to mention that initially Brady was strongly on branch's side]

lookwith or without favre we're fuckedrodgers is gonna be shit, green is coming off an injury, we have no receivers, we have no offensive line, we have a marginally acceptable secondary and d-linea.j. hawk will be awesome thoughpackers fans know this season is going to be horrible and would rather watch favre throw the ball all over the field for another year than watch rodgers struggle through growing pains

i used to dislike, yet respect, favrenow i dislike him and also think that he might not be mentally competent enough to tie his shoes
8/16/2006 3:47:30 PM
so how those packers gonna do this year
8/31/2006 3:12:07 AM
^ If they play like they did against the Bengals, 2-14.
8/31/2006 9:22:56 AM
then need to be 1-15 or 0-16, so they can for sure get the first pic(however, the Panthers were 1-15 and got the number 2 pick) is there a good QB class in next years draft?
8/31/2006 10:53:33 AM
the panthers got the #2 pick because Houston was entering the league. Kind of a blessing, as they weren't tempted to draft D. Carr and instead got PeppersAnd Green Bay doesn't need a QB in next year's draft -- remember they have Aaron Rodgers waiting to take over. He was arguably the highest rated QB in the '05 draft, but fell way down to Green Bay for some reason. They really need some OL help and some interior DL help though.
8/31/2006 11:01:55 AM
what GB NEEDS is Adrian Peterson.Forget Reggie Bush, this is the guy that will be the next great RB.He will most likely come out next year.
