i'm jealous. i'd love to own a nice merc one day - channeled, chopped roof, and sitting on bags. in flat, primer black with the chrome grill and bumpers. a classic hot rod. i'd also like to own a '55 chevy 150 street rod just like the ones in two lane blacktop and american graffiti (the very same cars were used in both movies). and of course, not hot rod collection would be complete without a '32 ford (only ford i'll probably ever own again). i like the five-window coupe. roadsters just don't do it for me. i got have that low roofline in combination with a nice rake to give it a mean look.the '58-'60 corvette are one of my favorite cars. i think they're beautiful! if i'm ever lucky enough to own two of them, i'll probably rod one of them.^^^ that's some beautiful work!what year is this merc (the pic is too large to post)? that's the exact style i want, with the modified bumper. i used to see one like it rolling around the campus area a couple of years ago.http://www.merlefest.org/Galleries/images/Merc%20-%20B&W_psd.jpg[Edited on August 9, 2006 at 2:09 AM. Yeah I wish this was a Mercury It's a 1949 Packard. It is pretty freaking close to having the same body but without all the increase in costs to me due to the popularity.I'm still debating on getting it painted black or leaving it marroon.

It would be cool to get some people together and cruise downtown on a Thursday or Friday night when school gets back in. Let me know.

8/14/2006 10:15:18 PM
Those are original wheels so i'd like to keep them on there. I may have to get some white walls for it tho.The engine came out of an old Cutlass.
8/15/2006 12:06:33 AM
You are worried about the wheels when the motor has already been changeD?
8/15/2006 11:16:08 AM
good point, how bout this....no money?
8/15/2006 11:25:06 AM
Thats a more appropriate response
8/15/2006 4:17:48 PM
what heads are on that motor? there is a big number or letter on the front corner of the LH head (or the rear of the RH one)

New picAnd on a side note, does anyone know how/want to fix a leaking rear differential? It's not bad unless the car is parked on a downward slope. I try to keep it topped off but I don't want to mess with the seals myself. Also is there anyone on here that does custom speaker work that could hook some sort of box or enclosure under the front seat/somewhere out of the way and install a head unit in the glove compartment, so I can get music going in the car. It is converted to a 12v system.
8/25/2006 1:12:04 PM
leaking rear diff. pull the cover and throw some seal shit goop around it and tighten it back up. nough said
