Have Local static ip address. Know port i need to use for SFTP application. Have configured firewall according to what Linksys tech support has told me to open port # for specified Local machine. Something is still blocking it within router firewall. SFTP application works when router is not connected. I use vshell and secureFX for the sftp which are made by Van Dyke software. Any ideas on what in router firewall is blocking it.

PS i have tried disabling firewall in router as well.

Some routers claim to disable the firewall, but in truth they are still enabled. Slightly annoying

My suggestion would be to see if you can use the software from the same internal network (i.e. another 192.168 IP address). If so, it's not a port forwarding issue, and you can move on other possibilities.

Also see if you can find the SysInternals tool TcpView. That helps determine whether anything is actually connecting or not.

i was able to connect using 192.168.1.*** *** being w/e my local address was. So that means its not port forwarding if i read what you said correctly. I will have to try other things. thx
