So I have flea bites on my ankle (but no pets, I think I brought some back from my friends farm or something)

I just washed every peice of clothing and bedding that was in my room, I've vacuumed the house and cleaned the carpets with the carpet cleaner. What other things should I do to make sure they are all dead?

Before you ask:
Yes I know they are flea bites. Yes I actually saw a couple fleas crawling on me.

was it flea carpet cleaner or just regular? could always flea bomb the rooms if it is small since you have no animals to worry about.

Just regular carpet cleaner. I actually went to the store to find stuff for fleas but didn't see anything. Do I have to go to a pet store for this stuff?

nah. the household products for fleas are usually in the pet section, instead of with household cleaners.

not for very long if i recall, maybe an hour or two. you just do it room by room.

[Edited on August 6, 2006 at 3:34 PM. Reason : without an animal there it shouldnt be too hard to get rid of um.]

Sentinal or Zodiac are some of the better products. The Zodiac one doesn't leave a smell so it works well for upholstery.

Get rid of your vacuum bag!!! spray it down with flea killer. If you have bagless, take it outside and saturate the contents with killer when you dump it. Otherwise it will become the new flea home.

Thanks for the sidescroll picture

Ok so i bombed, sprayed some other shit on the carpet, and still noticed one of those fuckers jumping around. Is the bomb supposed to kill them immediately or does it take time?

I'm having a similar problem. Apparently one of our dogs (outside dogs) came in the other day and dropped some in our living room. I give them fleabaths and stuff, but the little dog is a long haired cockapoo or something and much be a flea magnet. Ugh.

been there, done this...know that getting rid of the fleas (unless with some powerful chemical) is going to take a month or two, especially if you have a really bad infestation. No animals means it may take less time, but still it's not going to be an overnight thing. My suggestion is borax. Buy some from the store and sprinkle it on the floors. Scrub it into carpet with a broom. Let it set for 24 hours. Then vacuum (When you vacuum, make sure to empty it out every time you vacuum. The fleas can live in there too). The fleas eat it and it dehydrates them. The only setback is that you will have to treat your floors for at least a week every day. You have to kill all lifecycles and this method only kills the adult flea, so you have to wait for the larvae and eggs to hatch. Also remember that even if you think you've gotten rid of all of the fleas that they can lay dormant for something like 8 months. The little bitches are survivors

I fogged my room and havent seen any but pulled 3 off me when i was walking around the house doing stuff. Im working from home today but tomorrow I will fog the entire house again and sprinkle some stuff on the carpet.

And the spray I used kills the eggs.

what type of fogger did you use?...the name brand. you said you used one that killed the eggs too, so you probably did most of them in and hopefully killed off the majority of the eggs. Give it a week and see if they get worse.

1) Get a pet

2) Treat it with frontline

3) No more fleas

^^My vet said those flea bombs didn't work that great, so I never tried it.

He sold me this great stuff: "Flea terminator II" which also might be called "Fleabusters"
It says it's 99% orthoboric acid, which maybe is the same as borax?

Anyway, it's a white powder, I bought I big janitor-width broom and swept it in the carpet and couch and then vacuumed it up. No more fleas. Awesome stuff. Be sure to do under the couch, tables, chairs, bed, etc, because apparently they like to hide out there.

Well I have the powder stuff and the spray stuff and the fogger and I still got a new bite. Someone said it just takes a few rounds of fogging.

someone told me to sit a cake pan half full with water under a lamp on the floor where the problem. It got rid of most of them. All the fleas jumped towards the light and drowned when they landed in the cake pan. Then all we had to do was get rid of the eggs in the carpet.

Raze the house. It's the only solution.
