You've probably all heard about it.It's the new Aaron Sorkin show. Thomas Schlamme is involved, as well as Brad Whitford and Timothy Busfield. I'm sure other Sorkin show alums are on it, but that's not important. It's coming in September to NBC. I just watched the pilot episode, and I don't know about anyone else, but this show is gonna be fucking great. Just thought I'd let you know.[Edited on August 6, 2006 at 12:58 PM. Reason : yup]

I am super excited about this.Aaron Sorkin 4 Life.
8/6/2006 2:12:50 PM
isn't this the one with Chandler?
8/6/2006 2:57:09 PM
Yes. He was good in what little of The West Wing he was in.
8/6/2006 3:18:06 PM
He was quite funny in the pilot. That's for sure.
8/6/2006 7:13:14 PM
where'd you catch the pilot?
8/6/2006 9:45:00 PM
It's available on Netflix.

9/17/2006 8:33:01 PM
I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the pilot...not just in terms of story lines, but also because I didn't look at the Bradley Whitford's character and think, "oh, there's Josh Lyman."
9/17/2006 9:08:39 PM
i dunno about this showits not badbut its not really a tv showits like a mockumentary/behind the scenes of the politics of saturday night live and nbci just don't see it lasting more than a few episodes
9/18/2006 10:42:18 PM
I don't think mockumentary means what you think it means.
9/18/2006 10:54:01 PM
yeah, don't listen to charlie he's a little crazy. its at least been bought and will be shown for a seasonits definitely a cross between sports night and west wing, but that isn't a bad thing. doesn't have the style and pizzaz that sorkin's west wing did but its much more approachable and looks to be fun.
9/18/2006 10:58:30 PM
I fucking loved it?It's almost a little too realistic--come on, can't we at least pretend that there are plenty of black producers?Otherwise, it rocked. I'm hoping NBC doesn't keep too tight a leash on it. I could see myself watching this show for years. I know that sounds crazy, but it seemed like a family of people, a home. Then again, I'm drunk.
9/18/2006 11:03:33 PM
by mockumentary i meant fictional behind the scenes type of thing that goes on at a television networki just don't see the interest or appealthen again, i never really watched the west wingbut then again, the interactions of the president and the way the nation works seems more interesting than how a television network worksi just don't see how studio 60 will get better than how it began in the first 15 minutesor...it's just not my type of show
9/18/2006 11:04:53 PM
I see where you're coming from. But it's basically the same idea, albeit in a slightly different format, as Sports Night, which is great.[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 11:06 PM. Reason : ]
9/18/2006 11:06:04 PM
IT WAS FUCKING HOME FOR ME. HOME. I LOVED IT!
9/18/2006 11:07:36 PM
yeah but wasn't sports night about a local show, half an hour long, and more of a comedy?will the same thing work with an hour long show about a major network pushing more towards the drama end of the spectrum?and will the celebrities playing themselves get old really fast?
9/18/2006 11:08:30 PM
9/18/2006 11:08:49 PM
all the celebrities that will be hosting the saturday night live show[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 11:12 PM. Reason : it just annoyed me that felicity huffman was playing herself]
9/18/2006 11:12:02 PM
I didn't like it at all and I was even looking forward to it. Just thought it was boring. And that president lady is unattractive.
9/18/2006 11:12:06 PM
HOME!^^That's just silly.^LOL[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 11:13 PM. Reason : sss]

9/18/2006 11:12:32 PM
i think you will RARELY see any of the SNL type sketches on this show
9/18/2006 11:17:37 PM
Eh, it was okay.
9/18/2006 11:20:21 PM
^^we'll see bits and pieces, which actually works out great because they can show the best jokes, but not be forced to end sketches[Edited on September 18, 2006 at 11:25 PM. Reason : just like on sports night]
9/18/2006 11:25:15 PM
yeah basically
9/18/2006 11:25:51 PM
I wanna take a bath in Studio 60 and never get out. It ruled.
9/18/2006 11:26:31 PM
yeah, it's home
9/18/2006 11:27:39 PM
^Are you being serious? Because that's exactly how I felt and feel. And I hope that feeling remains the same, like The Wing, where there is a lot going on with a lot of people and action but it still feels somewhat cozy...
9/19/2006 12:07:51 AM
very disappointing.
9/19/2006 2:17:37 AM
this is one of those shows i wouldnt have watched cause i figured it would flopif it flops i'm gonna bump the thread
9/19/2006 2:19:57 AM
not as good as i was lead to believe it was. i definitly will not be making the time to watch it again. or even DVR'n it.
9/19/2006 8:51:47 AM
well i loved it. i'm keeping it on my DVR. loved loved loved loved loved.HOME. as SourPatchin is saying...HOME.
9/19/2006 9:57:37 AM
I wasn't excited about this show, but happened to catch the pilot and I have to say I liked it. I never watched the west wing (although I heard it was good), but this seems like a good ensemble cast.
9/19/2006 12:26:29 PM
was the episode that aired last night the pilot?
9/19/2006 4:01:03 PM
^It was the first episode they aired...I assume it's the pilot.
9/19/2006 6:16:06 PM
Well the critics love this show, so that usually means its gonna be cancelled. I watched it last night, and I didn't hate it, or love it. It almost seemed at times like it was trying to hard to be a good show. I don't know what it was about it, but some things just irritated me, but like I said, I didn't really hate it or love it, it was just kinda there.
9/19/2006 7:07:45 PM
9/19/2006 11:08:45 PM
No, not even that, but now that you mention it....kinda. But like I said, it seems to hard to be trying to be a hit TV show. Maybe I am not just to into NBC dramas and am used to the way other networks do them, but this one is gonna take some time.
9/19/2006 11:17:52 PM
^^^I thought the critics were lukewarm about it.^^She did a damn good job, I think. She just went for it.Stoked about tonight's episode!
9/25/2006 7:35:18 PM
I fucking love this show. Like, I've never been a letter person, but I may send a few dozen off to NBC on behalf of this program.
9/25/2006 10:10:39 PM
i feel like they're trying too hard to be realand at the same time they jump off the deep endit feels forced
9/25/2006 10:11:40 PM
^You and MackTuck still got me lost with those "forced" comments.Maybe it's because I'm jumping into the show, just straight up jumping in, while you guys are all critical and hesitant and not really embracing it.
9/25/2006 10:23:18 PM
i can't embrace what i don't understandi know i don't like it, but i don't know why i should hate it and that really bugs meat times its too serious, then the characters are completely oblivious, and then things come completely out of nowherethere's no cohesiveness, just a bunch of random things that only appear to make up somethingi'm just not able to follow the story they're trying to tell
9/25/2006 10:27:29 PM
yeah, I might give the show one more week then give up on itI was excited when I heard about it but now that I see it, it's just boring.
9/25/2006 10:41:13 PM
i love this show so far
9/25/2006 10:44:04 PM
i know what it iswhy should an audience care about how a tv show/network operates and attempts to stay successfula tv show about a tv show doesn't affect people the way tv shows about the president, lawyers, crimes, hospitals, families, etc, etc...
