I swear I could kill my husband right now. Last Tuesday we had a really bad storm here with lightning and rain and the whole bit. Afterwards our phone line was really staticy. My husband said there was water in the line or something like that. So, ok, I figure you give it a couple of days or whatever to clear up. Last night, it was still really bad, so I went and bought a new phone thinking maybe lightning had hit the old one. Hooked it up...still staticy. So, hubby goes out there to "tinker" with the wires and we lose all use of the phone (no dial tone). At least with the static we could still USE the phone. Then he pulls all the wires off the box outside and strips them to rewire it, but doesn't take note of where they WERE. So now he's hunting and pecking trying to get something back. The most he's gotten is a buzzing sound so far. Does anyone know how to fix it, WITHOUT calling the phone company? I may have to kill him before the day is over.

I have no idea. My mom had the phone turned on for us so she has allthe contact info. My freaking battery is dead on my cell, so I can't call her. I am technically being threatened at this point, yes....why?

at this point, you try to use the neigbors phone, or email the customer service pplas for the girl, break into her house and put icy hot in her vagisil or something, that will get her attention

http://www.ling.upenn.edu/~kurisuto/phone_wiring.htmlmaybe that will help. You might want to tell your husband that next time he messes with something he doesn't know about (which is alright), he should write down what it looks like before he does anything. And by the way if it'sthe wires in the NID or coming into the NID (the box outside your house), that's the phone company's responisibility. They would have fixed it for free.[Edited on August 6, 2006 at 2:59 PM. Reason : by the way]

Well, apparently he got it working again. Said he "rigged" it. The static is gone and we can make and receive calls. I'll just claim that that girl was cutting lines if the phone company ever has to come check it. hehAs far as she goes, I wouldn't want to break into her house. Never know what I might catch.
