how long will his streak go?he's at 33 now, rollins got to 36 at the beginning of the yearcobb, sisler, and rose are the only to hit in 40+ since 1900 -- excluding dimaggio, of coursei say he stops at 35which would make this thread kind of lame
8/2/2006 12:23:11 AM
hes on my fantasy team<3 chase
8/2/2006 12:27:22 AM
I have him as a 7th round keeper (I drafted in him in the 7th last year, so I got him there this year) & hope it goes to about 50. I see it going only 5 or so more. It always seems that once everyone is talking about it, it gets into the players head & then ends shortly.
8/2/2006 12:33:50 AM
it'll end soon. it's chase utley we're talking about.
8/2/2006 9:51:35 AM
rollins got to 38 games
8/2/2006 9:54:28 AM
^^Dude, he is one of the best young players in the game
8/2/2006 10:07:00 AM
I hope he gets close but I don't want him to break itno offense, but utley's kinda a no-name on the grand scheme of baseball, dimaggio is kind of a big deal
8/2/2006 10:10:13 AM
In the end, I think Utley will be one of the better 2B to ever play the gameIf he breaks it, it won't mean much now, but may later onCome on guys, if he breaks it, then its deserved, you can't cheat a record
8/2/2006 10:11:39 AM
better than that nigger rollins gettin it
8/2/2006 10:15:10 AM
i'm not serious
8/2/2006 10:15:32 AM
8/2/2006 10:27:50 AM
based mostly on the fact that's he still young and that's a lot of pressure to put on young players, such as rollins. he will crack before 40, I'm thinking. probably around 37
8/2/2006 10:45:17 AM
i hope he does break itdimaggio was a cunt
8/2/2006 10:47:29 AM
wait, what's a "true second baseman"? 2B is relatively easy.
8/2/2006 10:49:38 AM
One who managers are comfortable playing at 2nd.
8/2/2006 11:12:52 AM
The curse is on. WTG, Ernie!
8/2/2006 11:35:52 AM
I am glad he is on both of my fantasy teams. Dude is easily the most productive 2B in baseball now that Soriano is an OF. Ray Durham is having great year too, but he's old and this season is kind of a fluke.
8/2/2006 12:17:05 PM
don't forget the nationalszimmerman is a beast and larry broadway is gonna be pretty good tooif the braves young pitchers were anything like they're supposed to be they'd have one of the best young staffs in baseballthe marlins are loaded with young talent too, uggla should win ROYthe mets have milledge, although i'm not sold on him yet
8/2/2006 12:59:33 PM
chase utley == aaron hillthere, now you don't have to put words into my mouth
8/2/2006 1:09:50 PM
![Edited on August 2, 2006 at 1:18 PM. Reason : ugh.]
8/2/2006 1:17:34 PM
8/2/2006 1:17:40 PM
8/2/2006 1:18:08 PM
yeah chase utley is aaron hillexcept for the fact that utley has 19 more homers and is batting 25 points higher than hill with only three more games playedutley 2005: .291/.376/.540, 28 HRhill 2005: .274/.342/.385, 3 HR utley 2006: .328/.392/.566, 21 HR hill 2006: .303/.357/.396, 2 HRi'd give hill the slight edge defensively, but wtf crede---and soriano is still a true second baseman, he just got stuck in the outfield[Edited on August 2, 2006 at 1:19 PM. Reason : ]
8/2/2006 1:18:22 PM
^^you can't cheat a 56 game hitting streak record thoughthere's no steriod on earth that can give you better contact and help you hit in 56 straight games[Edited on August 2, 2006 at 1:20 PM. Reason : soriano was never that great at 2nd and definitely should play OF]
8/2/2006 1:19:07 PM
then, what you meant is that you cant cheat this record
8/2/2006 1:19:59 PM
steriods can improve vision and steroids obviously aid conditioningso yeah, roids could help a hitting streak---soriano's 2004 & 2005 RF @ 2B: 5.11, 4.78utley's 2004 & 2005 RF @ 2B: 4.46, 4.98soriano is a true 2B[Edited on August 2, 2006 at 1:22 PM. Reason : ]
8/2/2006 1:20:24 PM
^i should have specifiedsoriano is not a 2nd baseman this yearso as far as the best 2nd baseman this year I would take Utley
8/2/2006 1:31:47 PM
soriano is a second baseman playing left fieldas far as second basemen go, i'd take soriano
8/2/2006 2:40:04 PM
wtf Ernie
8/2/2006 2:58:02 PM
you can't tell me soriano isn't a second baseman just because he was forced into left field in washingtonthe dude is a four-time all-star second baseman
8/2/2006 3:01:32 PM
2B is the easiest fielding position between 2B/3B/SS. Soriano is just an average defender with an excellent bat. His speed makes up for 75% of his defensive flaws.
8/2/2006 3:04:58 PM
i don't even know what we're arguing aboutsoriano is really fucking good and i hope the natspos lose him in the offseasongo braves
8/2/2006 3:08:15 PM
Picking between Soriano and Utley is tough. Soriano is a more pure power hitter, but Utley is a better hitter for average. Seeing that their defense is a wash, then I'd take Soriano because he is simply more dangerous and has more speed than Utley (although Utley can steal some bases too).
8/2/2006 4:10:35 PM
2B is definitely not an easier fielding position than 3B, thats a ridiculous statement.Think for a minute why 3B is normally reserved for power hitters and 2b is for light hitters. If 2B was so easy why would people trot Mark Lemke's out there instead of just throwing another power hitter at 2B.I agree that 3B might have a few tougher plays because of the reaction time needed, but they dont cover half the territory or have half the responsibilities a 2B does. All a 3B does is guard a line, the 2B covers practically the entire right side of the infield. Not to mention turning double plays and covering bases.
8/2/2006 9:28:55 PM
I KNOW YOU AIN'T BUSTIN ON MARK LEMKEdude had 32 career home runs
8/2/2006 9:53:11 PM
p.s. utley is 0-4 tonight and probably won't have another AB
8/2/2006 10:19:27 PM
8/2/2006 10:33:08 PM
nope[Edited on August 2, 2006 at 11:01 PM. Reason : x]
8/2/2006 11:00:54 PM
looks like 0-5 with a fielders choice in his last AB...i guess they changed it to a single [Edited on August 2, 2006 at 11:06 PM. Reason : yeah, i just noticed they did change it]
8/2/2006 11:02:38 PM
^they counted it as a single...the streak is at 34 now
8/2/2006 11:04:18 PM
what bullshit. it's good to be white these days
8/2/2006 11:15:16 PM
stfu, legit hit that time
8/2/2006 11:36:43 PM
^^ lol ?
8/2/2006 11:37:53 PM
8/2/2006 11:41:10 PM
Chase Utley approves this thread(p.s.- if you want to see a bunch of fucked up major leaguers this site is hilarious -- someone sent it to me at work..)http://itsasecretsohush.blogspot.com/
8/2/2006 11:54:22 PM
he was 2-6 tonight anyway...so even if it WAS a fielder's choice, he still extended the streak
8/3/2006 1:33:27 AM
His hit in his fifth AB was legit...
8/3/2006 8:54:09 AM
8/4/2006 6:03:32 PM
this picture is old[Edited on August 4, 2006 at 6:21 PM. Reason : like atleast 15 months old]
8/4/2006 6:21:06 PM
