I love you. You're expensive. But very very very good.
7/31/2006 10:02:13 AM
This is definitely FTW. Count on spending $50 a head very easily though.
7/31/2006 10:03:44 AM
I spent $150 on two. I had a KC strip with a HUUUUGE baked potato and some mushrooms that were IN-FUCkING-CREDIBLE. With drinks and dessert, I spent near $150 there once.[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 10:08 AM. Reason : better?]

to die for is a very gay thing to say.
7/31/2006 10:07:34 AM
There I fixed it. But I was there with a girl.
7/31/2006 10:09:09 AM
yes, very good place. I spent right at $110 for my wife and I when we went (no alcohol). But I would def say its worth it.
7/31/2006 10:35:10 AM
Ruth's Chris is the most over-rated, over-priced restruant I've ever seen. I laugh everytime I see people eat there.
7/31/2006 1:49:55 PM
i second that
7/31/2006 2:16:53 PM
OMG IT'S A CHAIN AND THEREFORE IT SUCKS!11
7/31/2006 2:16:54 PM
i ate at the one in greensboro...food was great, i just didn't like the atmosphere at that particular restaurant.
7/31/2006 2:21:58 PM
second empire ftw
7/31/2006 3:40:36 PM
http://www.opentable.com/start.aspx?m=22&n=382RC serves great food, but it is still overpriced. It has nothing to do with its chain status. There are much better eateries regardless of price. I am biases to 18 seaboard, but Troulousa in CH is awesome as well. I have yet to try 2nd Empire, although i did opt to work there. Irregardless is tasty as well as Mo's Diner.
7/31/2006 4:02:04 PM
As far as traditional steakhouses go, its probably one of the better ones in raleigh.
7/31/2006 5:22:37 PM
i don't even get where people think it's that expensivei mean it's not the fucking outback for christ's sake
7/31/2006 5:30:21 PM
^ are you claiming on a college message board that a $100+ dinner for 2 is not expensive?
7/31/2006 6:06:22 PM
A large pizza can be an expensive college dinner for most...
7/31/2006 6:08:57 PM
i mean it aint cheap, but for an aniversary or some special occasion, $100 for dinner isn't that bad i guess expensive is a relative termgoing out to the movies for 2 can cost like $40 if you buy drinks/popcorn/candy +tickets on a friday nighta tank of gas can be $50-60 if you drive an SUV or your car takes premiuma cellphone bill can cost $100...
7/31/2006 6:15:24 PM
for what you're getting and compared to other steakhouses(i.e. morton's, smith and wollensky, bobby vans, peter's) it's fairly priced.
7/31/2006 6:32:48 PM
exactlyif you can't afford to eat there, that's cool- DONT EAT THEREbut don't be a hater and say it's the most overrated and over-priced place evar!1
7/31/2006 6:42:14 PM
interestingly enough, i recently discovered the prices at ruth's, even though it's a chain, is not the same at all their restaurants. there's one near reagan national that overlooks the airport that charges about 10-15 more per entree. BUT, all the tables overlook the airport and you get to watch the planes takeoff and such. adds to the ambience i suppose.
7/31/2006 7:35:36 PM
ruth chris is good and in cary not raleigh as somebody stated.carvers creek off capital at 440peddler off glenwood in old shopping center across from pleasanta bit cheaper and just as good maybe better.i heard we are getting a mortons of chicago. (on fayettevill too)that fucking place is the king of steakhouses.[Edited on July 31, 2006 at 8:01 PM. Reason : good job fayetbillestojreet.]

haha judgin by the looks of this thread, my bitch is gonna hate my assim talkin anniversary at the Pearl and blue ridge theater with one bag of popcorn or one drink
7/31/2006 11:39:09 PM
if youre going to be a jew on your anniversary don't embarass A) YourselfB) Your g/fC) The waitstaffby going to a crappy placejust make dinner for two, but youd damn well be sure it tastes like gourmet shit or your chick will be pissed
7/31/2006 11:42:45 PM
but what if your girl cooks on your anniversary..dessert and all.... i've gots the bestest girl
8/1/2006 12:22:52 AM
I agree Morton's is a great steakhouse, but Peter Luger in Brooklyn is probably the best steakhouse is the nation, if not the world. Like all those steakhouses mentioned above, they select only prime meat, which if I remember correctly is only 1-2% of all meats. Of that percentage, they only hand select about 5% of prime meats to serve in their steakhouse. You can go there for lunch fairly easily, but dinners require reservations about 1-3 months in advance. Can't wait for a Morton's though. Definitely a notch above Ruth's
8/1/2006 10:11:52 PM
went to the new one for the first time tonight and it was great but i'd put it 3rd in the area behind carvers and peddler. it is also one of the most beautiful dining rooms ive ever been in. ALSO IT IS 100% A LA CARTE. which makes it seem cheap but entrees come with salad and side at some places which (after you spend 12 on those) actually makes ruth's chris more expensive than most places in its class.
8/7/2006 12:34:13 AM
Angus Barn > Mortons > Ruths Chris > Sullivans > PeddlerIMO, for the ones that I've been to a number of times.
8/7/2006 11:21:08 AM
You really think Angus Barn is better than Morton's for steak?
8/7/2006 2:19:52 PM
I love Morton's way more than Angus Barn, the one in Charlotte at least
8/7/2006 2:24:20 PM
angus barn hasn't been decent in nearly 10 years
8/7/2006 2:32:40 PM
I don't know bout fine steaks an allBut a brazillian steak buffet is mighty tasty.
8/7/2006 2:37:22 PM
^ good call...the only one i've had, though, is the one in brightleaf square in durham, chamas...i've heard there's a good one in cary, but i don't know where it is
8/7/2006 2:45:44 PM
The Angus Barn:"They have made the Angus Barn one of the nation’s most successful restaurants. With an annual sales volume of 10 million, it is one of the nation’s top 50 grossing restaurants. It is consistently ranked by national trade publications as one of the 100 best restaurants in the country."The Angus Barn is the best steakhouse in Raleigh

Last time that i went to ruth's chris with a gf the waitstaff completely weirded us out by asking if we wanted to get drinks with them when they got off.
8/7/2006 3:46:00 PM
when mootduff isn't eating souls,he prefers a good mortons steakin fact he has reservations next saturday night there..mmm
8/7/2006 3:52:09 PM
you can get a damn tasty steak at ted's montana grill
8/7/2006 3:58:44 PM
second empire Carver's Creek ftw
8/7/2006 5:24:36 PM
the Angus Barn is still riding on it's own coattails from back when they were actually good.
8/7/2006 5:28:37 PM
^yep. a woman can't run a steakhouse.
8/7/2006 5:34:56 PM
Shula's
8/7/2006 5:42:31 PM
10/27/2006 10:25:46 AM
I guess my opinion of Angus Barn is inflatted b/c of the whole atmosphere and other dishes...If we are talking straight up steak then my opinion is different. The best steak I've ever had was in a place in Dallas but I don't know the name off the top of my head, then probably Ruth Chris in Chicago (never been to the one in the triangle), then Le Marche in Toronto, then Mortons, Angus Barn, Sullivans, peddler
10/27/2006 10:47:09 AM
It's a good entry-level restaurant where you can get a pretty good cut of meat, some other great food, wine, and a good atmosphere. The prices are reasonable for what you get.
10/27/2006 11:07:00 AM
Manny's in Minneapolis is better than Mortons
